It's easy to be overly critical in hindsight. At the time the strain was worse than the current one (which still overloads hospitals), with it being as good a chance the next strain would be more deadly not less, as thankfully it was. Since it was less deadly, the 'lesson' people will take is masks / lockdowns are unnecessary, not it's better to err on the side of caution, in case the next Pandemic is more deadly.Do you think people would fall for the lockdown/mask BS again?
No, people have decided they don't give a shit about others. Barely a few years past a global pandemic and people are rolling up to work or the shops, coughing and spluttering over everyone. Asian people wear masks when they are presenting signs of illness because it's common ****ing manners, not some tyrannical conspiracy to strip your freedoms and install the lizard people as leaders.Do you think people would fall for the lockdown/mask BS again?

That's very true about Asians and I agree more prominence should be given to social consideration for others, but regrettably that's never been the Aussie way. How to change the mindset? Maybe an ongoing advertising campaign like slip slop slap to encourage people to either self-isolate or wear a mask if they have a cold might be more helpful. No, people have decided they don't give a shit about others. I did this a while back. Luckily I haven’t found another. Yet.Finding a grey pube

Yes, but in Asia, especially in densely populated areas and on packed public transport, people wear masks as a precautionary measure as well. Friend who spent some time in Japan told me that.People in some Asian countries wear masks when they are sick to limit spreading their sickness to others. People who are healthy don't, in the same way that surgeons wear masks to prevent ingress into open wounds rather than to prevent catching something from the person on the operating table.
Here we forced healthy people to wear masks. 'You should wear a mask if you feel unwell' will probably never take off.
I still occasionally see a random person wearing a mask at the shopping centre. I’d guess it’s precautionary.
The great majority of us are now taking our chances, even though there are covid cases about, and probably flu/colds. Spending a humid summer behind a face mask is not appealing.
FFS just when I thought the world was returning to normal.
"fall for"? Millions died.Do you think people would fall for the lockdown/mask BS again?
In Australia?"fall for"? Millions died.
In Australia long covid makes you feel old.In Australia?
Maybe their masks slipped."fall for"? Millions died.
Don’t even get me started on the crippling global inflation that piece of shit virus caused.Masks are an easy sell. Locking the joint down and small businesses going broke left right and centre, not so much

Will still be felt in a couple of generations by everyone other than the Uber rich
I think I get what you are saying but please elaborate?View attachment 2181986
I'm not a conspiracy theorist...but it's hard when you are watching the greatest transfer and concentration of wealth in history....and those on the other end of the transaction are celebrating in the streets...
Woke is just bullshit for people to complain about things they don't like.
Now the only thing that’s changed is you no longer watch the inbetweenersLooking at some of my old FB posts .
14 years ago I was watching the inbetweeners and pissing my pants .
Not to mention disney tanked the star wars video games.Disney has run the Star Wars brand into the ground.
Force Awakens cost $450m, made $2b. Last Jedi cost $300m made $1.3n. Rise of Skywalker cost $530m, made $1b. Diminishing returns but they still made money. They cooked that trilogy by not having a plan going in, changing directors from Abrams to Johnson then back to Abrams and not really doing anything with any of the new characters they introduced. It was pretty clear by the time Rise of Skywalker was released how many fans had lost interest. By comparison the Phantom Menace made $1b (first Star Wars film in 16 years), Attack of the Clones made $650m (not very good but not bad enough for everyone to give up) and Revenge of the Sith made $870m. The 1999-2005 trilogy cost about $115m each to make so overall it's about $2.5b in for $350m out. It's riskier now with insane production budgets.
What they have done since is pump out content on Disney+. I enjoyed The Mandalorian but by season 3 it was becoming the Bo-Katan Kryze show. Similar to the short Obi Wan series the focus moved off the titular character. I haven't seen Andor (yet) or Skeleton Crew but the rest have been pretty uninspiring. Go woke go broke is one aspect, but they are also trying to milk an IP that has lost its appeal. Star Wars, MCU etc. all eventually lose their gloss. Disney absolutely know what they are doing with their let's say very narrow choice of directors, casting etc. but also know that if you pitch the Acolyte and it's not a Star Wars project then no one is giving you $29m episode to make it. They're banking on a floor of fans tuning in to anything they put out with Star Wars in front of it. They've made 7 series over the last few years at a total cost of over $1b. Are they seeing a financial return on investment? Hard to gauge but they had 164m subscribers two years ago and have 158m today. They seem to still be making profits but their stock price is back where it was 10 years ago.
