I don't know how it wasn't sooner either.About ****ing time
Yep. Honestly Neale could have a dynasty of AOTY awards. To not wallow in self pity and do what he's done is beyond words. His mind is still razor sharp so its heartbreaking that his body is giving in. campaigner of a diseaseI don't know how it wasn't sooner either.

I honestly expected him to not be with us 5 years ago after seeing him deteriorate but he keeps fighting. Amazing manHe’s not looking good; unable to speak . My uncle succumbed to this cruel disease.

It was nearly like he was too obvious a choice for yearsHe should have been awarded it no later than the third edition of The Big Freeze - starting up that type of thing, it would have been easy for it be seen as nothing more than a novelty for Melbourne & Collingwood fans, where a month later people have moved onto the next thing... But that's not the case
The fact it's been an annual event since 2015, those involved are from fields external to football/AFL, and that it's even moved into local communities who now host their own events, shows not only Neale's reach, but more importantly the connection & ownership the community feels to this cause
I hope this long overdue acknowledgment helps to further push the cause
He always looks cheerful too. His positive attitude and sense of purpose have probably helped him to prolong his life. Inspirational.I honestly expected him to not be with us 5 years ago after seeing him deteriorate but he keeps fighting. Amazing man
