Thread has been rolled over to Part 16 here

Yes I drove in the period of August 2020 to April 28 2021.
And thats because I protested the fine and was given a court date, which was delayed until now due to some sort of pandemic...apparently.
So, I was able to drive until my case was heard. My suspension didnt start untill the 28th of April, which was the day of the hearing.
So I was never driving unlicenced...until I was.

Gotcha

So in summary, you drove +30KPH in a School Zone, during School Zone Hours, thought you'd challenge that successfully so had your licence formally suspended for less than a week before deciding the Law did not apply to you again.

This led to the Police giving you the Shits (per thread title), and your rant for same.

For future reference, extracted from NSW but I'm pretty sure would apply in every state

None of being +20KPH to the posted limit, School Zone Speeding or "I didn't see the sign" would have worked so a combination of the 3 even less likely.

Assuming you are in NSW, the Penalty for Driving While Suspended is:

For a first time offender, the harshest penalty that may be imposed is a fine of $3,300 and/or 18 months imprisonment. There is also a mandatory 12 months licence disqualification that will be given to all first time offenders.

I'd suggest you buy an umbrella to walk to the station on rainy days
(Oroton preferably)

And yes I've been Suspended before (through my own stupidity, 20+ years ago), no I did not drive while I was suspended, and hell no to posting it online.

And if you haven't had a fine within two years (or it's your first offence).

doesnt work in SA, i got done for 10k/m over the speed limit about 3 years ago, first time in about 20 years, still had to pay the $400 fine

i can remember i was driving to motor reg to get my car registered, had run out the night before, cops was doing a license and rego check blitz, off course i got pulled over, explained to them i was on my to pay it and showed the renewal paperwork, they let me go and I pay it, i was driving to Melbourne the next day and got pulled over in Sale, thought i got done for speeding, but they was only doing a license and rego check blitz

Zero tolerance for Unregistered Vehicles, they typically won't review or rescind a fine for that

Yeahhhh, except I already know all that.
Got anything else ?
And it was 27kmh over to be exact smartarse.

The car speedos are 5km/h quicker than they say they are. I don't speed in school zones ever. Not just the fact that it's dangerous as kids have reputation of just randomly running on roads but they are also policed strongly.

Back before they installed license plate readers on patrol cars, i always felt that you could get away with driving unlicensed provided you didn't do anything attention worthy and focused your travel during peak times and on busy thoroughfares. (I based this on the volume of people you'd hear of being picked up pissed at RBTs who were already suspended.)

I never had the opportunity to test this hypothesis though. License plate scanners changed the game.

Had a mate that was suspended after a DUI decided to test this by going out to a nightclub and driving himself there, got pulled up at a RBT site on his way home resulting in me picking him up for the second time in the middle of the night.

I think the Police have done the public a great service.

My old man drove on a Rhodesian license until after the country ceased to exist.

Was over in the US for a couple of months in 1998 and signed up for membership at the local video store. They wanted a licence so I gave them my NZ one (printed on blue plasticised paper, about a quarter A4 size, valid until 2036) and they didn't bat an eyelid. Tapped it into the computer, came back valid, all good. That was a bit freaky.

Yeah, trying it on at RBT o'clock I wouldn't have tried. But driving to and from work at 8AM/5PM along Hoddle St/Punt Rd before scanners I always thought you'd get away with.

Moot now anyway
