I'm not European, but I have very different ideas when it comes to weddings as opposed to my mother. I'm her only daughter and I guess she doesn't want to miss out on the whole MOTB experience, but I'm a lot simpler and would get married at the court house if my fiance had agreed!

My folks got married in their lunch hour, and had the reception at the pub. They put about as much effort into marriage too.

Computers, specifically email/web hosting. Has given me nothing but grief, not sure why it's made so complicated when it really should be a simple process.

Yeah she's putting in money but it's our gift. She's not too bad she just wants to be involved in everything and I'd rather do it myself

Not going to lie, I think my daughters and I are going to be a little like this. One of them wants the whole big fat Italian Wedding and the other while it will be simpler is looking at far more expensive venues and wants. Trying to find the balance is going to be interesting. The other half and I got married in a garden many, many moons ago and our alcohol bill was bigger than our food bill and it was more friends than family and that caused huge fuss between both sets of parents, so I'm not really in a position to tell them what to do.

In saying that though, the thought of me telling parents to stfu and mind their own would never have crossed my mind and I hope my daughters pay the same respect my way.

Just stick to your guns MEB, she will come round as at the end of the day, she will just want whatever makes you happy.

I've never understood peoples analness about weddings. It's all a bit too much "look at me" for my liking, if your wedding is your greatest day in life you've had a pretty average life. All people do at weddings is critique as well, comparing one to another, where as I hate them all equally.
