A "fish supper" as the Scots call it. Where "supper" is somehow short for "and chips".

Which makes you wonder if you can order a chip supper?

I've heard that often Scots will get a fish supper but not eat the chips, leaving them to go cold which they eat the next day. Which they call "a salad".

Poms aren't that keen on salads, they love their chips though. I noticed Subway wasn't that popular there because they add salad to their subs rather than chips, if they added chips to them they would probably do a roaring trade.

Rice gets replaced by chips at Chinese and Indian restaurants too

He used to have a tradition of a shepards pie after a gig. Part of the rider. Everyone had at it, but Keef had to pull back the foil and have first go.
Van Halen used to have a rider in their contract that required venues to provide a bowl of M&Ms with the brown ones removed

It’s often derided as one of those stupid rockstar requests, but it was actually to test the diligence of the venue staff - if they failed to fulfil the request, the band would take a closer look to make sure the more critical safety requests had been implemented

You’d have to start to take the piss a bit too surely. If you’re a Rock superstar just be like “a pillow with only single feathers plucked from virgin geese” just for shits and gigs

a good mixed grill is easily best pub meal

have to find a new pub as my local took it off the menu

we used to go to a pommy themed pub and they had the best mxied grill, huge serve, except they put black pudding with it

Dont think I've ever ordered it once.

I never used to get parmas either. Took me until like 30 years of age to order parma. Havent had one in a very long time actually come to think of it..
Had an Irish Parmi for dinner tonight - a nice variation on the traditional offer

My last meal out before lockdown last year was at the same pub, but that night it was the Buffalo Parmi which is currently not on the menu

At the risk of giving away my naivety, what's a mixed grill?
Here's a couple of variations

Mixed Grill: Ham, Sausage, Bacon, Steak, Chorizo, Tomato, Mushrooms and Eggs.

Mixed Grill: steak(150g), sausage, chicken, tomato, field mushroom, bacon and egg served with chips & gravy

Essentially a plate of meat with a side of chips

For a bloke who has come back as a new identity and questioing the archaic nature of forums, its good to see you posting a lot.
See. Forums can still be viable in this fluid digital world.:)

Choose a different club next time though?

The height of fine cuisine.

When I think of the worlds great cuisines British ain’t on that list.

They make some good hearty cold weather foods but that's about it. They coat their fish in thick batter and fry it because they don't have good fish to start with. You wouldn't that to a fresh fillet of Spanish Mackerel.
