This is about all that was available to me in the late 1970s, I remember going to the Camp Hill pub in Brisbane and thinking gee what amazing technology... what will they think of next.

Tarcoola Tavern were one off the first in town to have these - many a jug spilt when things got serious
There’s a guy here in Osborne Park that makes them - I so want one

Neither. Sapphire Valley Inn i think it was called. The games room there.

The Seoul Olympics were on too.

'88 was probably my last family holiday to Merimbula, but I loved it up there. Spent pretty much all my time in either the surf or one of the arcades.

The one next to the mini golf in the main street had a lot of games, but what became Top Fun at the top of the hill used to be a gym that had a games room. Fewer games, but better quality. It's where I first made the acquaintance of Donkey Kong.

Galaxian, Galaga, Gyrus, Space Invaders, Pleiades, etc. I sure gave those aliens what for. And in return they ate all my $0.20

The takeaway near work was run by a Cypriot called Nik. He had one machine - Galaga - that ate most of my 20s until I became good enough that 20c used to last most of lunchtime. One of the other guys pulled off a miracle. Since egg was 20c extra on a burger, and extra bread and butter was 5c, somehow he convinced Nik that a fried egg sandwich was therefore 30c. We became devotees of two eggbread and two games of Galaga for a buck, five days a week.

pretty tough out there atm job wise. Youngest has graduated as a teacher and can’t get a job - she’s applied for about 60 and only had one interview and that was at a school about 3 hours from Perth - it was the same response as she has been getting from those who have bothered to reply “looking for experience”

Not hard to start becoming a bit disillusioned by the whole process.

Send her across to Central Queensland. We're desperate for teachers.

I remember it being that much at Split Second on.. William Street? They had a vector graphics Star Wars there too down the back against the wall.

Also remember playing Dragon's Lair in Cinema City. :D

A mate and I went to Perth for the America's Cup in 86 and spent a lot of our time playing Dragon's Lair at some arcade in the city. We eventually got to the end of the game.

- 3/4 size pool table
- air hockey table
- 4 x daytonas
- big screen TV + couch area + bar
- perhaps a skiing and a motorbike game.
- one "old school" table with a heap of games like pacman
