What do people think of Richmond turning their season opening game into a sing-along for one of their sponsors (Bingle)?

Sponsorship is a necessity in this day and age but I don't like when it crosses the boundaries and cheapens the game day experience. That horses ad makes me cringe every time I see it, which doesn't help.
If it were Carlton, it would still be bizarre, but we'd get it.

Don't own a Rolex, but they aren't expensive because they have good marketing, they are successful because they have good marketing, but their watches are expensive because they are built to a quality most other watches aren't. They are world renowned for their high level of quality control, they use workers to handle a huge amount of the assembly and quality control, to set and test the watches and they don't use sweatshop workers for this labour, they use expensive steel that is difficult to machine, just because they think it looks better and makes a stronger longer lasting watch. You may not think these things are necessary but that's not the point, it costs them a lot to build watches their way so they need to charge a lot.
The quality of a Rolex is all part of their marketing and their brand.

So what gives you the perception they are quality?

Their quality control is legendary, the chronometer alone takes a year for them to assemble because it gets extensively tested after each step and every single component is tested before it is inserted. You may be able to buy a better quality watch for cheaper that was made with a more efficient process with cheaper workers, but when you buy a Rolex you are paying for their process and their methodology and their process is expensive.

I think i know what you are getting at so I will re-post the first line of my original comment.

The reason you believe all of what you have written about the product is because of their outstanding marketing and advertising, how can it not be you have not been to their factory and you said you don't own the product!

They are a global company with an outstanding marketing to tell you how good their product is and why it is good which is the reason you have just written what you did!

Can you now see how good companies are at marketing, if you think they are good Coca Cola are better!

I know that showpony did the we fly as one branding and they really are very keen on yellow ;)

It was just the way it was said to me that I took it to mean that the commercial was produced mostly in house. I know that we have done previous commercials in house as well and following on from the crows show stuff last year. There is definitely a leap in production values from within the club.

Word is that the senior members of the club's marketing team are also extremely attached to the yellow, I think we will continue to see it!

You're repeating a bit of the brochure more than stating facts

And i tend to prefer your argument in general here

I love the use of yellow. Purely because it is a colour no other club has embraced. Makes our signage pop at Adelaide Oval as well.

I love the Rollex I bought in Bali.

As the guy said to me when I bought it, "The extra L stands for luxury"

Just waiting for the warranty card to come in the post.

It's the colour you see easiest on TV

I like the yellow, I like the promo and I like the logo and "we fly as one".

Team first and Pyke saying today he doesn't tolerate selfish players (32) but wants team first is what I've wanted to hear this year

Everyone quickly forgets the stress and emotional roller coaster our players went through last year - team first I think , sits well with this group .

Those Kuta Beach sellers are brilliant. However I prefer the Sanur Beach sellers they include a card with various batteries.

Much of marketing is simply making sure the people don't forget you. There is no doubt in my mind that some of the less passionate Crows supporters were thinking: 'So the Crows' best player is gone, and we're getting ANOTHER new coach and a hard draw. Not sure if I'll go to any games this year.' This commercial seeks to grab the attention of so-so fans, and pump up the moderate and hard-core fans. Membership might be sold out, but more people will buy GA tickets and the club will sell more merch if there is a sense of unity and optimism.

Yellow is also our most unique colour

my rough in my head counting has

8 clubs with Red (including maroon)
9 clubs with Blue (10 including teal)
5 clubs with Yellow

So if we were to concentrate on a colour, yellow is the colour that gives us the biggest point of difference.

I dont mind the new ad but i think we could have made a much better one. I love the theme 'we fly as one'. It is so true after last seasons events. If i was in charge of producing the new com i wouldve had snippets of supporters streaming into adl oval, supporting and team highlights from last year. At the end of it a quick replay of the play along the wing vs the dogs in the ef, where tex marks and spears it to cc who finishes. Then showing the final siren and the crowds response. It would be memorable.

But that isn't following the mantra of we fly as one. It is not just the players and the crowd at those games. It is all of our supporters including those who can't or don't get to games.

Your suggestion is only focusing on a small subset of our support base and ignoring the rest, so it doesn't fit with the we fly as one identity.

Different purpose ads I reckon. One is a cultural ad embracing our logo, theme and implying that us many thousands of supporters are integral to putting our beloved players on the park. The ad you describe is more of a gee up for the game, got tickets then get to the game, got none then beg, borrow or steal and get there, let's smoke these mofos.

My layperson opinion only. I'm not a marketer or public servant, wouldn't have a clue where the best coffee within a 20km radius is.
