Opposition supporter so delete if need - But I got into the Grand Final last year with an AFL member ticket on someone else's membership. They didn't ask for ID & I didn't see anyone around there asking. Doubt anyone is heartless enough to enforce that rule.
If anyone has a standing room ticket and would swap for a Cat 5 I'd be happy to chat.

Of the teams in the GF in a given year? Of course some are, but the majority are not. Most of those tickets will get sold back to fans of the two clubs at inflated prices. I don't know how those memberships work, but if you also list an AFL team that you support, then those should be the only AFL and MCC members to get priority.

you dont know how they work, but you know most are taken by non fans of the competing teams and sold back to fans of the competing clubs.....
ignoring the absurdity of that leap of logic, doesn't that mean the tickets are still getting to supporting club fans? you did say it after all

Don't ask me, I've only been alive a bit longer than you have been a member, do never had a chance until now to go to one and looks like I missed out here.
Not going to sell my sole to go, would rather take my son to PRO and share the occasion with him there.
That being said, if there were 2-3 tickets available st face value I would love to get them

A mate of mine went to the ground at around 10am last year with a sign saying he was buying tickets and managed to get one. Some people have others drop out at the last minute and will sell you the ticket.

Inflated prices was the key part of the statement. Just look at this thread if you don't think that happens. How many Tigers have scored tickets and will sell them off for a profit? There will be thousands of tickets being sold at inflated prices by people who were given the chance to buy them ahead of the fans of the two teams. It's wrong. I thought it was wrong when my Cat-loving mate bought a ticket from a Demon fan/MCC member for $4k in 2007 and i still think it's wrong now.

Looking for one ticket at face value. I know it's not lucrativrly attractive to sell at face value but i would like to attend a GF as I've never been to one before (like many others).

you are in a paradox however
demand for GF tickets massively exceeds supply, thats a given
maintain prices at artificially low levels, people will scalp. Including RFC members are you just acknowledged
kill afl and mcc and go with market pricing, and you will follow the NFL and have a zero added to all ticket prices
your problem wont be solved killing the afl and mcc, and will just kill a key part of the funding structure for our premier stadium

Why are the actual prices artificially low levels? The only people who would lose money if fewer tickets were allocated to non-GF team supporters are non-GF team supporters who were going to sell their tickets. The only people who miss seeing the game are non-GF team supporters, with their tickets instead going to supporters of the competing clubs.
Anyway, I wasn't intending to spend an evening arguing the point. All I'm saying is that supporters of the two clubs should have a much larger proportion of the ticket allocation (whether club members or holding another priority membership type).
