I havent been on the sight much of late so perhaps I am repeating other peoples thoughts.

I read this article and it has some interesting points. But to me it still missing one very important point. Tippett was to be punished for his part in what was a stuff up by Adelaide. He was fined $50,000 plus 11 matches. The AFL did their part. However the Swans have agreed to pay Tippett his full annual salary for only playing 11 games. So how is Tippett's punishment justified.

Why doesn't he lose half his salary? If he had then the Giants may have picked him.
Why can Sydney afford to "waste"so much money?
Why is Sydney allowed to effectively bypass the impact on Tippett of losing 11 games.

I have no sympathy for Trigg but at least his current punishment actually hits his pocket. He can not earn any funds from Football for 6 months....so his penalty is effective. Tippetts penalty is in no way effective and I believe the AFL should step in and stop Tippett from enjoying half of his full years salary. Sydney should also be investigated for acting in a manner that makes the AFL's punishment ineffective. Sydney should also lose its COL allowance as they have in no way supported the AFL's intended punishment.

Or am I the only one that thinks like this.

i guess these are the sort of things you cling to when your club is the laughing stock of the afl... and fair enough.

What nothing definite?.......Soft serve

On the Tippett thread, Jenny and Bicks followed by a rant on how pathetic we are.

And ranting about how pathetic we are isn't pathetic? I think I'll stay away from there.

I've also given up on the main board, where apparently all our deals are dodgy, we just got better at hiding it, and we paid Tippett that extra $200k, not his 3rd party sponsers. .

But hey, why let facts get in the way of a good story

It's first interview: http://www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7106/newsid/152362/default.aspx

Particularly liked this line:

“I’ve been doing a bit of work at home - I’ve got a coach at home on the Gold Coast and I’ve also been training a little bit with Southport as well.”

Wait, so Sydney isn't home?

Home is where the heart is, Jenny

And we all know he's a Gold Coast boy at heart

BUT! I like this article heading from the HS:
New Swan Kurt Tippett says he feels at home in Sydney

Don't worry the cub knew how much he was worth. They are not all idiots. In the end the Crows were a whisker from a premiership. Big blokes that stretch defensives are gold. Nearly worked beautifully for the Crows... a bad umpire decision here a bad management decision there. It's a game of inches Jenny.

An interesting point for sure. This story would be so much jucier if we had won that prelim and played Sydney in the GF. WE should have won the Prelim bar the umpires as well. How would Tippett have played? Crikey a time machine should be invented just to enliven this situation. 50,000 posts would be the bare minimum.:p

Exactly Brissy.........How is it possible for the AFL to say he cannot earn any money from football for 6 months and yet sit blithely by as Sydney pay him a front ended salary for the full year? Given Tippetts suspension, the AFL should have insisted the 2013 salary lodgement by Tippett/Swans should reflect reasonable market value and then be reduced by half. Tippett and the Swans are LTAO! Tippett gets 6 months off and then pays for his $50,000 fine, with some change, with his first game!!!!!

The fact he will be paid the most when he is able to provide the least could stretch his team mates patience by the end of the year.

I dont think they will be willing to give him too much slack once he is back in the league side. He would be expected to provide value from day one. Otherwise there may be some very unhappy campers if a premiership player must make way for his Highness to only see him play like he did against the Swans in our first final.

Tippet must come out firing from round 12 or find himself becoming the Sydney Medias next Folau. They would love the opportunity to bag him and the Swans -with good reason- if he does not live up to expectations.

He'll find the Sydney media are a step up from what he is used to and may soon long for the good old days in Adelaide with its "fishbowl environment".

How does he get away with trolling the board for the arvo and not get a card?

We've had a number of Sydney flogs on here recently, coinciding with a lenient approach from the mods

I'm not about to start carding Sydney posters simply for supporting Sydney. bobbobbert was skirting the line without stepping over it. We tolerated it for a while, then asked him to move on.

Other posters have found themselves with infractions for stepping over the line.

There hasn't been a "lenient approach". The influx of Sydney posters has come because they can now laugh about having picked up Kurt Tippett for a PSD pick. Seems a bit wanky but as long as they're not assholes about it they're within their rights to post.

Cmon mods. Close this thread. He is gone. Its past embarassing now. Time for some posters to move on.

I'm getting sick of saying that we're not going to close the thread. We don't just close threads because people don't like the topic anymore. If people are not interested in posting in the thread, it will vanish. If they are interested in posting in it, then it would be foolish to have it locked, preventing them from doing so.

Please stop asking.

You've got money on it reaching 28K don't you! ;)

I dont see how its really Tippetts fault that Adelaide ridiculously overpaid to keep him, and Sydney ridiculously overpaid to obtain him.

You're right if you are a greedy mercenary like Tippett why would you worry that your club is drastically overpaying you at the expense of your teammates/club culture aka your friends for life.

Do you think Tippett is in sydney because he wants a taste of the mythical bloods culture (should be extra salary cap culture ) or he is there for the extra $$$. If I was him and it was about future premiership success and c;ub culture, I would be knocking down Hawthorns door not Sydneys.
