Wow.
You actually brought the great mans name up in order to attempt to make me look bad? Very poor form. Hang your head in shame. What a disgusting way to get ‘brownie points’. The picture is a mark of respect to a wonderful man.

I dont need to make you look bad, you're doing that very well all by yourself.

In a nutshell:
- last week's incident was worse
- there is no excuse for grabbing at the face
- Greene (in each case) looks around to see if he can get away with it (it seems he forgets about cameras)
- I'd have more respect for Nic Nat body-slamming me or Tom Hawkins hitting me than I would for a rat who goes into a pack and grabs at my face
- I don't give a damn if it's eye gouging or nose gouging or raking the face. It is rubbish behaviour and should be stamped out.
- he will probably get off because it is the finals, last week was worse and they didn't suspend, the AFL want GWS to win a premiership, it may not technically be eye gouging, Brisbane are going in to bat for him, it the finals, Geelong has won a few premierships in recent memory so Tom Hawkins isn't the same, it's the finals and it's GWS in the finals.

Yeah especially Nic Nat most of us can understand him losing his cool when some flog is yanking his hair.

As much as I think Toby is a grub, it seems the more people hate him the more I want to watch him play.
Hope he gets off, GWS wins, Toby gets suspended for the GF, and they play the cats!

Edit: hmmm saw extra footage. Surely doesn’t get off.

Crazy how the NRL and AFL are so different here.

serious question.

Would you be okay for most stoppages where there is a group of players on the ground to have one player acting as Toby did last week?

If you are okay with that then we want very different games.

No, no one wants it, just like no one wants big melees at games, obscene gestures to crowds or hair pulling

but we agreed at the start of the season that these incidents are fines so long as no one is injured.

We cant change our minds now especially during finals just because Toby Greene is a complete tosser.

Wow, a serial violent offender against women doesn't think Toby's done anything wrong? Well then, I guess that settles it.
Agreed. I'm tired of these footy "experts" (not just Carey, Russell, McClure, Maher and on it goes) waxing lyrical about Toby Greene "playing close to the line". From where I sit, it is so far off the line. Nic Nat slamming somebody in the course of play is close to the line. Stewart slamming into Yeo in the course of play is close to the line. Yeo (I think) tackling Selwood in the third quarter is close to the line. Darling slamming Merritt into the ground is close to the line. Mumford (who defends Greene) slamming somebody into the turf or crashing the pack is close to the line. Running in to scratch some guy's face (checking who is watching then doing it again) two weeks in a row is pathetic. I don't agree that "we" want to see the "best players out there". If Greene never played again, I would be happy. I don't love to hate him (like, say, Peter Daicos), I just think he's a dog. It is gutter ball and isn't brave, isn't part of the game. Greene and his team-mate Cameron are just dirty and a blight on the game.

Yea, he's gone. The initial footage on the AFL website today wasn't conclusive but in the AFL360 footage you can clearly see him claw at Neale's eyes.

Clear as day gouge. Not sure what Lachie Neele was doing saying it wasn't his eye, although maybe he didn't say it in the first place.

Case closed

Not sure how anyone could defend him after seeing that footage
He’s obviously grabbed at his face. But there was no eye gouge there and you can see his fingers make the actual contact with his nose and cheek and the palm of his hand goes over the eye region in the process. This would be supremely annoying and it’s definitely unnecessary but let’s not kid ourselves and say he’s trying to cause any real physical damage. More a psychological attack than a physical one and more so an attack on the sensibilities of the viewing public it has turned out. Neale along with other footy players past and present know this is a beat up and rather than them, it’s the AFL responding to audience reaction and trying to meet public expectation that has led to Greene’s suspension.

I don't think it matters if he's trying to cause real physical damage or not, his actions are dangerous, intentional and reckless at the same time. Raking around the eyes and nose in the way Toby has done will inevitably result in a player getting serious damage to the eyes at some point. Life changing damage.

Role play raking your own nose yourself - although the footage clearly shows contact to the eyes, then imagine you are under a pack the way Neale was and also defenseless with another players fingers raking in that vicinity, would be scary stuff!

I think when you have to nitpick it apart to this degree and watch it on slow motion 40 times and pause it at the exact nanosecond where contact is possibly made then there really isn't much in it at all.

This happens with most infringements. Sanctions are handed out on slow-mo footage, whereas in real time there's not much to see. Not saying that's the case here though ;)

No, I think last weeks incident with the Bont was shocking, and despite this weeks in isolation being not as bad, is actually worse considering he pleaded 'guilty' for his actions toward the Bont yet went and did pretty much the same action the following week.

I suspect the only people who can't see the absurdity of Greene's recidivist actions are just rooting for GWS to beat Collingwood and also realise that without Greene GWS chances of doing so would be that much harder.

This miraculous new angle is as inconclusive as the original. How anyone is making definitive judgements based on a hand over what appears to be a dark shadow is beyond me.

No one can definitively say which part of the body was touched other than Neale.
