Tom Bellchambers what's he worth

Cameron wood was an exception pies paid overs big time on a highly untried player. He looked at the time like he was going to be good!

You could play this game for ages.

Does that mean he's better than same Jacobs?

As I said late first rd anywhere 14-18 acceptable

Yes he's a good ruckman with good potential but hardly a world beater!

Leuenberger, Jacobs, sandy, cox, nicnat, kreuzer, Mumford, Goldstein, Macintosh, Ryder, jolly, mcevoy, maric, roughead, hale all considerably ahead & quite a few more that are close. Cant see that top 10. No need to oversell

Would have him equal or ahead of those highlighted. Roughead isn't even a ruckman. IMO that would suggest that yes, he is close to a top 10 ruckman in the comp.

Has had much more proven experience than either Wood or Jacobs before they were traded.

A good young tap ruckman who can take strong grabs around the ground and push forward to kick goals, on the cusp of top 10 in the comp, any interested club will have to pay a bigger price than they will want to.

I dont think he's as good as the players Hollywood23 has highlighted he has potential and maybe he could be but not at the moment. Also disagree with him playing well forward that's the issue with him and Ryder in the same side. One post mentioned Ryder at CHB and I think that's one way they could work in the side together quite well. Ryder has played very well at CHB in the past.

He is a lot better than than Hale, Roughead (as far as ruckmen go), Mcevoy and Luenberger. Miles better.

Why would we trade our #1 ruckman and be stuck with paddy and an aging ruckman with no backup.
Did he say that you would not then go and get someone else "less expensive" to have in reserve in the VFL, in case/when Hille and/or Ryder miss games and until Daniher is ready to play some time in the ruck? We were silly enough to do that this year (not have any recognised back-up for McEvoy and Stanley in the VFL), but I doubt any other club's would follow us down that road.

If you were to trade Bellchambers, to say, bring in Caddy, I expect you would then look to the state leagues, or other club lists and find someone that you consider would be capable of coming in to replace either Hille or Ryder (if they get injured/suspended), but who would only cost you a low draft pick, or something else "not too expensive". You may get someone else for the rookie list as well, to develop and have as extra back-up.

That way, you've got some half-decent ruck back-up, in case something happens to Hille, or Ryder and you get Caddy, plus it means that Daniher would be unlikely to be needed in the ruck any time soon.

It would be a risky move, but if it came off it could pay dividends next year, especially if you happened to land Goddard as well as Caddy. Goddard, Caddy, someone else as ruckback-up and Daniher in and Bellchambers out, doesn't sound like the worst offseason you'd ever see.

Tazweigen Hale and Roughhead both offer more in other areas though I meant holistically as a footbaler not just one aspect. Aussierules yes just because we trade Bellchambers does not mean we can't find a capable second ruck dime a dozen anyway it probably wont happen was just a thought. I know we need another gun mid though and someone who has good disposal in the back half as our later games showed that is severely lacking when Fletcher is not there. What we give up to get these type of players is the problem and other clubs supporters not necesarily other clubs but quite possibly don't think Hooker or Pears are worth the kind of player/players where after so what do we do?

Good ruckmen don't exactly grow on trees. I'll stick with a proven ruckman than an unproven mid (Caddy) thanks. Now if GC were to give us Bennell/Swallow and Zac Smith then I wouldn't say no.

Best comparison for T-Bell is McEvoy - Both drafted in the same year.

McEvoy is ahead of T-Bell at this stage.

Jolly is in a different league to T-bell.

I disagree with you about McEvoy although he is better round the ground from what I've seen he is a terrible tap ruckman which is the main part of rucking.

OP asks a legitimate question for this pie in the sky type forum and gets shouted down by a bunch a morons.

If a club offered around 10-15 he is gone for me. Average tap ruckman who has uncanny knack of hitting balls straight down the throat of opposition midfielders. His around the ground marking and possesions have improved out of sight but his centre square stuff is still a work in progress. The best currency we have if they wanted to land someone like a Caddy without losing a heap of team balance. Hawks seems to be travelling ok without good ruck depth.

Way way way under-selling him, IMHO. Far better footballer than Caddy at this point.
When was the last time a similar age, similarly-somewhat-proven ruckman got traded?

Ottens got 2 x first round picks; Jeff White pick 2 & 18. (Before you say Jolly, check out how much & how well he'd actually played before his move to Sydney).
Mumford's the only one I can think of - absolute steal; wouldn't happen again IMHO.

I'd want at least 2 first rounders; or a good young player & a first rounder etc.
Just not worth it otherwise.

I would tade Bellchambers for Caddy and Toy

But thats just me... I mean Essendon has abundance of talls on their list. We could pick up a young ruckman in draft and play Ryder-Hille Ruck

Our MAIN MAIN MAIN weakness is Midfield... Must get Moloney aswell

I would immediately dismiss this idea, although I think the less we have to play Hille next year the better. Not sure whether the Suns would love this idea with Zac Smith on there list and showing promise.

Thing about "pick up a young ruckman in the draft" is that with Danihier going in the first round, we would have to use a later round pick to get one, and frankly, they probably wouldn't be as good or have as higher ceiling as Bellchambers appears to have.
