Flogstradamus Tom Boyd Deal Haters

He will be Tom Hawkins mach II. The running jokes built up when he was developing will gradually become further and further departed from reality, and the people who said he would never amount to anything will be proven wrong

The kids on here don't understand the concept of tall players taking a while to develop

They also don't understand at how the Bulldogs justify paying around $1,000,000 for a guy that has done absolutely nothing and was told that his fitness was not up to standard.

Just admit it, you bought a lemon.

Just to clarify, I'm not a deal hater...

The Dogs had to get Tom Boyd, and yes they had to pay what they did for him. We all know they've struggled forever and a day to get a good key forward, so they had to take a punt on this one. He may very well end up a bust, but you can't die wondering.

That said he's always going to cop it on an individual basis due to being paid so much despite being unproven, and he'll continue to do so until he starts producing. However in my opinion you can't blame the dogs for taking a punt in the name of improving their list.

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always had.

Good post mate

Our list is full of 19-24 year olds that will all peak together, until they do they are being paid bugger all so we have a lot of salary cap room to front load Tom Boyd's contract. It won't affect the retention of our good players

His fitness was nowhere near standard. He's only just getting there now

GWS have NFI how to develop players. Tom Boyd was 110kg when we got him. 2nd year players are supposed to be 10kg under playing weight, not 10kg over. He's 104kg now which is much closer to Petrie, Roughead, Tippett, Hawkins etc. but he still has a way to go with body composition

Soooo... you're basically saying he's not worth the $1,000,000?

I believe his contract to be $5m over 7 years, but regardless, he will be most valuable in the latter stages not in the first couple of years. The opposite to Buddy's deal in Sydney

You might need to do some history checking.

This is perhaps the most crazy statement of all.
Compared to how well we develop players it's not. They have managed to completely dominate EVERY draft since we've been rebuilding And somehow our kids are just as, if not better than what there's are.
Still waiting on the development of Scully, Cognilio to live up to his potential at u/18's, Patton to show something, Whitfield to live up to #1 status. Already given up on #2 picks and #3 picks Plowman and O'rourke. #2 draft pick Josh Kelly still hasn't cemented a spot in the side. While #3 pick Dom Tyson is already on another list.

Tom Boyd will be tearing teams a new one in the years to come and I'll be kicking back laughing at the hurt

Funniest thing ive read today

You can even possibly add Jeremy Cameron to the list. Hasn't inproved since his first two years of footy and would rather snipe blokes off the footy than kick a goal. Dirtiest player in the AFL IMO.
And within a minute you beat it.

This is now even funnier.

Keep em coming.

Are you going to deny that statement?

Tom Boyd will kick more goals than Jeremy "Sniper" Cameron in 2016.
Yep. Jezza except for year 3 when he had injuries has been one of the guns of the comp. And you think he will drop to Boyds lvl?
Even with the 4 game start he has no chance.

Hahaha

We haven't paid him $1m yet but noting how upset you are at our bold move any money being paid is worth it so far

We got a developing gun KPF, re-signed our kids and signed up a FA (Suckling). Brilliant list management by us :rainbow:

The way things are going by the time Boyd delivers on his $7 million potential this thread'll be longer than my Geelong vs Hawthorn shitfight. :D

Lulz, just when you think this thread can't get any worse, here come King Bont and GG with a tier 6 cripple fight. :$

I doubt even this thread could plumb the same depths as that one though.
