If he were to be traded, what would Hawthorn get in return?

  • Two good 1st round picks

  • Top 10 pick and change

  • A 1st & a 2nd

  • Later 1st round pick

  • Two 2nd rounders

  • Early 2nd rounder

  • Other 2nd round pick

  • Less than a 2nd rounder

I think Richmond will do if they can't get Finn Callaghan.
15,40 for Mitchell, Hawthorn2022r3 is a possible trade, maybe replace 40( might be 41,42) with 28.
Still gives Richmond a pretty good draft haul this year, strengthens their 2022 haul.
Hawthorn get pick 15, maybe 28, a better haul this year. They also probably improve their 2022 round 1,2 picks as they win less games next year.

Probably overs for Mitchell.

Pick 15 on its own would do the job.

In the unlikely event that Titch goes to Richmond, they will have to give up pick 7

Why?

You guys dont want him.

The pool of suitors is small if it even exists.

He's old

He's on a large salary.

There is a reason clubs are not lining up for him.

FWIW, I want him, he is what we dont have, but he is worth a late first at best based on all of the above.

Mitchell + O'Meara + some salary

For

7 + 15?

Tigers push for another flag maybe? Midfield is the weak point.

Backline of Grimes, Balta, Tarrant, Vlastuin, Rioli, Broad, maybe Stack rotating.

Forwards Lynch, Riewoldt, Dusty and Bolton full time thanks to new recruits, maybe Baker and Stack.

Mids Cotchin, Prestia, Edwards, Mitchell, O'Meara, Lambert.
No no no

Of course you would

If Richmond do pull the trigger id prefer future first or the north pick. Be nice if hawthorn could pay too just on the low down. Treloar style.

Apparently there has been no interest reported with time running out.

I wouldn't be shocked if the tigers did not trade 7 and 15 they essentially opted out of the last draft.

The problem is his salary. He’s at the age where a late first-rounder should do the trade, but it doesn’t really look like Richmond have the means to take his salary on. That’s the same with O’Meara (I imagine that both are on some decent contracts).

Let’s just say that we do. We have two choices - we can either start our list reset by taking the picks we have to the draft (puts us in a good place long-term), or we can take one or both of Mitchell and O’Meara and probably contend again (we can easily facilitate a trade for them with what we have).

The dilemma is real with this one (if we even have the salary cap space to facilitate this) because I can see the arguments for both decisions. I’m leaning towards just taking our picks to the draft and starting our list reset but it will be interesting to see how this pans out.

We'd probably pay a large portion if 7 was on the table.

Like Chad, I reckon it's a media beat up anyway.

Time will tell.

Yeah it could be a media beat up. It makes sense because if this is true, then it seems that salary isn’t the issue for Hawthorn. It’s more about starting a proper rebuild and acquiring the high draft picks. As you said, we’ll see what happens in time.

Would the Hawks be interested in pick 15 a future 1st rounder and Jack Ross?

No way surely not the jack Ross that Richmond Is pinning all there hopes on to carry the midfield when cotchin, Edwards, prestia retire in 1-2 years . The Jack Ross that Richmond supporters rate so highly along with future captain Jack Graham who averages 10 possessions a game while future captain Graham almost doubles him with a huge 18 a game.

I think we could just do a straight swap Mitchell for Ross.

If I'm being serious I'd take 15 and maybe a swap of later picks, your 38 for a future 3rd which is likely a very similar same pick but gives us another inside 40 this year.

Cap space is obviously an issue for Richmond ,but as much as he gets shit on here he is a such a gun player that out of all teams can see suiting yours the most. With two days left it doesn't look like anything will come of it so the Hawks will be happy to retain him, but I'm definitely surprised there wasn't many suitors.
