Not just being carlton biased here but that article and quote really does not conclusively mean he is staying...all he really said is that hes happy and contracted ready for pre season but almost all players eg franklin say they are happy...he would not want to say yes and cause a media storm just before swans grand final...not saying hes moving, but dont see how the article is proof he is staying

Umm.

Tommy's staying.

I can tell you he loves the club & the club loves him.

Pretty obvious you are simply stating that as a fanboy.

You dont think Franklin loved Hawthorn and Hawthorn loved him?
You dont think Ablett loved Geelong and Geelong loved him?

There are reasons a player would leave a club and a club would let a player leave despite 'loving' them.

Im after some actual inside info and proper discussion rather than 'they love each other. Mitchell's staying. Period'.
You sound like a whole heap of Collingwood supporters who said 'No way Beams leaves he loves the club he's staying'.

I agree.

But still think its unlikely that he will go.

Hahahahahaha. He just stated that hes going to push himself into the midfield next year and make it his. In sydneys team. Mitchell loves the challenge. He aint gonna take the easy way out and be best 22 straight off the bat at carlton. He wants to be best 22 at the best team in the comp. AT THE SWANS. He is going nowhere.

Oh look another fanboy stating 'he is going nowhere' without anything to back it up.

You dont think there is even a slight possibility he leaves?

Given the questions he was apparently asked and the fact its Sydneys grand final week, of course he is going to say the stock standard answers of 'looking forward to pre season', 'im happy at Sydney' blah blah blah. And maybe this is in fact true, but doesnt mean he won't leave.

Other players like Franklin and Ablett were saying all year how they love the club and were happy...its just the standard response...they're not going to say 'no im not happy here and i am looking to be traded to a new club' right before the grand final.

Maybe he is more likely to stay than leave, but it is still a possibility.

Too bad he clearly states that he wont entertain the thought of a trade. Not at all.

It is there in black and white. If you read all of whats actually there not reading what you want to read then you would understand that he is saying that he is adamant about staying in sydney.

Selective reading gets you no where.

Except the direct quotes stating he's excited about fighting his way into the Sydney midfield.

Sorry but the Carlton BBQ sucked. Maybe the sausages were undercooked but Mitchell won't be a Blue next year or ever.

Accept it and move on.

People say a lot of things in public with Cloke re-signing after giving our offer a lot of consideration.

Perhaps Carlton baulked at his generous contract and Sydney's asking price for Mitchell.

Or Sydney refused to trade.

Or both.

There was talk from people who aren't social media stalkers that he was interested in changing clubs.

Its a very strong indication he is staying at the swans, but what else could he say? if he 'ums ahs' about the question then the media will drum up a massive storm just before a GF. Not outside the realms of possibility that he could end up going if its salary cap relief the club is after and he is after more opportunity. (i know what he said about forcing his way - once again what else is he going to say to that question?)

I have a feeling Malthouse may raise the stakes and hold a second barbie at his joint.

Check mate Sydney.

I think this is looking very similar to the Josh Kennedy situation a few years back were the player loved the club his family had a lot invested in the club and the club would love to keep the player. The reality is that he might get a few games next season at Sydney next year but he is a certainty to get games at a club like Carlton. Fans like the romance of the game and ignore the reality which is the AFL system is a brutal place and you playing a regular games can set you up for life and you regularly playing in the twos and having 50 plus disposal games and being touted as a future star can have a real detrimental effect on your own football as well as your $$$

Every player has a certain value that could pry him out of a club. What would it take? A pick in the top 5? Top 10 and a player that meets a need? Top 20 and a good player? Pick 1 + 2?
Don't really want to trade him he's an inside mid that we're going to need

Really? I feel like Sydneys midfield is already insanely talented. Jack, Jack, Hanneberry, Parker, Bird, Kennedy, Heeney. I'm sure there's others I've missed. Can't all of those players play inside?
Kennedy and Mitchell are the inside midfielders
