I was there that night and he was nothing short of amazing. I remember the long drive home, and being slightly unfazed at the narrow loss as I thought we'd unearthed a future megastar of the game and our future was bright.

Turns out he's no longer with us (and not that good) and we're in worse shape than we've ever been.

Things can change in footy very very quickly. I bet a large chunk of threads started in 2010 would just as silly if they were bumped now.

Too much Tom Scully love not enough Dean Bailey love. It took a long time but that plan he has going atm is brilliant when you look at it close enough. Speed. Power in the right places, protects the youth he does have by throwing the bigger bodies in the more physical roles.

Looks like Stynes knew what he was doing all along signing up Bailey so quickly
One of the greatest posts I think I've ever read. This guy was a Nostradamus on the rumours board and in this thread it seems.

^Hindsight is a funny thing, I don't really see the harm in it.

Scully was utterly incredible that night and I hope that he can replicate it at GWS as a neutral fan. I reckon he'll get there in a couple of years.

exciting times to be a melbourne supporter i believe

amazing young list,

just shows you the quality of melbournes recruiting department as opposed to richmonds.

and also how critical that goal by jordan mcmahon was in the whole scheme of things

Not bagging here, but it really shows how important it is not to overreact on limited samples. The only true part of this whole thing is McMahon's goal.

Melbourne fans conduct is disgraceful. Sure, last year it was funny but this year they are pretty much going to the game to solely heckle a kid. It's been over a year guys, move on. How about going to support your team?

Oh yeah, forgot half of you are of the "**** this club" mentality.

What are you talking about?

The organised meet up so we can jeer Scully crowd. Bringing banners and masks and fake money.

How about just coming in club colours and supporting your team, rather than a 20 year old kid from the other team who, when all is said and done, made a good choice for his career. He's on six times the money and has none of the shit associated with the MFC now.

The organised meet-up is just that. There are a few jokes about taking the piss out of scully (as I believe that was a common theme last time) but most of the posters agreed they were a bit over it at this point and just wanted to meet other board posters. No doubt there will be a few boo's on Sunday but that's just footy. I mean, Judd still gets boo'd when he plays the Eagles at Subiaco. It's just the way of things.

The Dees can boo him and heckle him all they want, at the end of the day he didn't want to be a part of their club and burnt supporters hopes and dreams. Footy is an emotional sport, if they want to hang onto that hatred, let them.

That thread was from last year

Okay, you've had your say, but I reckon you should leave now.

Yes, you are bitter that you only got the 3rd best midfielder in the draft and not the top 2. Don't blame Melbourne's "tanking" on your poor performances though. A lot of Melbourne's best drafting has been done with later picks.

Classic. Poor Tigers would be spewing they only got the 3rd best midfielder.

This is a bit harsh on Scully. God knows why I'm defending him, but his inoperable knee condition wasn't known at this point, its severely hampered his development.
