Goddard has been number 1 for me, absolute freak. Closely followed by Pavlich and Hodge and then Judd, who seems to will himself and the team over the line more times than I'd like. Sandi, Barlow, Chapman and Ablett would be next for me. Lots of players who are around the mark would be after that..

Id like to hear what kind of response Mark Thompson would give to that, let alone the rest of the backline..... He is far from a hack mate, he is a quality HBF

he is a massive frontrunner, he is a squib, he is a clanger machine

he has been exposed without harley and scarlett there to fix his ****ups

Chapman is the No1 player in the League atm.

By a country mile.

If we are talking on performance now, then Jack Riewoldt would easily fit into the top 10. He has kicked like 20 goals in the past 4 matches. Plus he's taken a favourite for mark of the year and kicked a contender for goal of the year.

was just thinking that as i waited for this page to load, wondering if many would have him top 10. Would of sounded silly at the start of the year, but if its the 10 currently performing the best he is a contender.

What are your top 10 players at the half way mark of the season

I think this will be a good thread to pull out at the end of the year to see if there are any players who have dropped off or lifted there game

1. Ablett - Still the best in my eyes cops to much crap on this board.

2. Judd - Just behind Ablett not by much seems to be getting better.

3. Goddard - Is a freak can play anywhere best skills in the comp every time this bloke gets the footy you know he will use it.

4. Sandilands - Best ruckman by a long long way seems to be getting better and better.

5. Chapman - Been amazing year so consistant so damaging massive smokey for the Brownlow.

6. Pavlich - Can go forward kick goals and play midfield complete package.

7. Hodge - Almost been his best season would be leading Hawthorns BnF by a mile great player.

8. Montanga - Added a new element to his game by being able to go forward his 5 goal 30 plus possesion game was one of the best i have seen.

9. Swan - Always consistent seems better this season at being able to lift when the team needs him.

10. Franklin - Might surprise alot of people but when his actually on the ground i still think his the best forward in the comp might still give the Coleman a run.

I'd be inclined to replace Franklin for Riewoldt - the Tigers variety. He has single handedly avoided Richmond becoming an absolute embarassment this year.

Interesting that almost everyone's top 7 is close to identically. Looks like Ablett, Chapman, Goddard, Judd, Hodge, Pavlich and Sandilands are definitely the seven best in the league. I'd probably go with Barlow, Cooney and J.Riewoldt to round out the top 10.

dale thomas

has been the best player over 11 rounds at the team currently sitting in 2nd position. based purely on performances in the 1st 11 rounds of 2010 he is clearly in the top 10 in the competition

Goddard, Pavlich, Hayes and Hodge have been the ones I've really noted.

Montagna has finally hit some consistent form. Had a few good games early on but was very average. Really turned it on lately and now we've got a really good reciever running through the middle again.

I actually think Sandilands should be ahead of Pavlich at this stage. Both no doubt in the top 10 though, maybe even top 5. But there have been quite a number of times when Pavlich has been floating out of games. Having said that, Pav's presence and influence on the game, when he is up and about is enormous.

Tough call.

Round 2 had 35 touches, clearly BOG,
Round 5 he had 36
Round 6 he had 34

Did not have less than 23 in first 7 rounds.

If that is terrible then.....well....I don't know what.

Probably had one bad game vs Carlton when he had 23 disposals.

don't think he got a touch in the Collingwood game
