Melbourne - Don't know what to say about the Dees, they don't look the goods anymore, backline is awful and the midfield is average. Forwards need to take advantage of every opportunity for them to get out of the bottom 4 next year.
Huh
McLean, Jones, McDonald (all Australian), Bruce is an average midfield. I would've thought that midfield is one of the better going around.

No, I don't want to imagine that! Don't forget we lost Mark Williams for the season after round 4. He was our leading goal kicker and on top of the goal kicking table at that stage. We still went on to do ok:)

i dont think losing buddy would do as much damage as people think.. dont take this this the wrong way hawks supporters but personally i think buddy isnt as good as people think... dont get me wrong he is a massive talent but i think he is also made to look better by having arguably the best midfeild in the comp working for him... you watch the hawks and you can see how easy it is for buddy sometimes, he gets it given to him on a plate... i dont rate him as high as others do only because i think the hawks midfeild is the at least second best in the comp and that buddy gets it easy most of the time...
if buddy went down i would think roughy would get more chance as would williams etc and it wouldnt impact too greatly.. just my opinion though

OK, I'll leave Essendon out.

1 - GEELONG: If you're being fair-dinkum, the Cats are the team to beat.
2 - PORT POWER: It won't go backwards, so will be thereabouts again.
3 - COLLINGWOOD: Will be right there come grand final time.
4 - WCE: Will be roughly similar to 2007. Should be more settled, in fact.
5 - HAWTHORN: Has the line-up. Expect a big year for Franklin.
6 - SYDNEY: Won't set the world alight, but should make the 8.
7 - ST KILDA: Well, capable of anything.
8 - BRISBANE: Another team that could finish higher.
9 - FREMANTLE: One of many sides I expect to win about 11 games.
10 - KANGAROOS: I expect they'll drop off a fair bit this year.
11 - RICHMOND: Will pull off many an upset and won't be far from the 8.
12 - ADELAIDE: Will crumble and, I think, the coach will come under pressure.
13 - CARLTON: Has a powerful young line-up. Maybe just one more year.
14 - BULLDOGS: I don't expect a lot from the Dogs. Another disappointing year coming up.
15 - MELBOURNE: I just can't see the Dees winning more than four or five games.

Cheers.

i cant see why everyone is placing melbourne as definate spooners do be honest.. they are the most inconsistent team in the comp, one year they will get top 4 the next bottom for, they have been doing it for like the last decade pretty much, i expect them to bounce back at least a bit this season

He is a rare talent, he is an enigma. I think the hype is because of the way he plays, the one handed swoop at the ball on the ground on the run, the twist and turn, kick of one step for goal, he has such presance on the feild. Then he may go missing for half the game. He may never have the consistancy of some of the regular forwards the game has known.

Sure it may look easy. He gets it handed to him on a plate, and yes we do have a good midfeild as all the good sides do. He still has to work, it's not as easy as it looks, and he will improve with age. Remember how easy Dunstall had it? People reckon he had it handed to him on a plate also!

anyway....

1. Geelong. A few sides did beat them this year, but when they put the foot down!!

2. West Coast. Still not ready to fall yet. too much talent there

3. Collingwood. Will only improve

4. North Melbourne. You don't get as far as them by chance. Big Nathens back in 08, they should be there abouts

5. Brisbane. IMO should be up there. J Brown injury free, could be the first in a while to kick a hundred for the season. Still lots of talent there

6. Port Power. Not at the top but well into the eight. Good youngsters

7. St Kilda. C'mon guys...Make or break this year. 7th at a minimum, whats going on down there.

8. Fremantle. See above. Way too much talent to miss the eight.

9. Carlton. They have a damn good midfeild now led by one C Judd, very good young players who have been in the system for a while now. Maybe a year early but with youth on there side, if injuies are kind to them could be late season bolters

The rest...whatever. Hawks will be in the eight.

Geelong
Saints
Freo
Collingwood
Brisbane
Port
West Coast
North
Hawks
Crows
Sydney
Carlton
Bombers
Melbourne
Richmond

Saints to improve now the coach has settled in.
Sydney on the slide.
West Coast missing Judd.
Hawks not quite there.

McLean, Jones, McDonald (all Australian), Bruce is an average midfield. I would've thought that midfield is one of the better going around.

I would have thought it one of the worst. Mclean is no superstar, Jones in&under but no champ, mcDonald and Joel Bowden are both all aus, but that doesn't win games, Bruce is proven small game player. Maybe it has Essendons measure, that is it. Every other midfield has 2-3 clearly better players.

I think people are getting a bit over excited by Hawthorn

They have some good young talent

Lets put last years finals performance in perspective

They played a side out on their feet (Adelaide - injuried, ageing side) and Buddy Frankiln played one of the best games I have ever seen and they fell in by a kick and they were then beaten comprehensively by a side that got belted in their other two finals

Not saying that they are not going to be a good side in the future...but I think everyone needs to calm down - they have done nothing yet
They made the finals well ahead of expectations, was a massive effort in itself. I don't think many expected us to make it until 08, so to make it a year early has got people a bit more excited because the list is developing extremely well.

There were a lot of performances in that final besides Buddy which people ignore which won us the game.

On our day this midfield will carve up anyone.

McLean busted his foot and was out for 8 weeks. Tell me any other player that will hit top form after that. Contributed well in the second half of the year. Has won a final off his own boot. If fit next year, he will be a top 25 player in the AFL.

Jones has played 29 games, came 2nd in the B&F, achieved brownlow votes, been nominated twice in the NAB rising star and came 3rd in 2007. Jones is more than just an in and under. Has achieved so much in just his 2nd year.

Bruce - Also missed a chunk of games in 2007. Needs to work on his kicking but otherwise is pure quality. Kicks the cruch goals. Is versatile. Will get the hard ball. Will get the easy ball. Can play on the KF's, can play as a forward.

McDonald - He was AA because he tackles, tackles, tackles and just gets the bloody ball. A high possession winner. Any midfield would welcome him in their team.

Melbourne will surprise next year and will challenge for the 8. Remember a fit Neitz, Robbo and Davey forward line is unstoppable.

Not to mention others on the wing such as Petterd and even Morton will be coming through. Dunn, Moloney(if he is fit, watch him explode), Sylvia, Green and Davey will be rotated through the midfield and Grimes will be in there this year as well.

Our midfield is strong. Thats not our problem.

Oh look, another "post this years final ladder with 1 or 2 changes" thread.

Keep tipping Melb for the spoon.
Seriously these guys have no idea.
They just looked at our ladder position last year and thought "oh yeah they must be crap, we'll tip them to win the spoon."

A more intelligent poster would realise we had the most injury riddled year of anyone. If Geelong had our injuries, they would've finished bottom 4.

The only 2 weeks when we had most of our team in, we were far too good for Adelaide and Collingwood - rounds 10 and 11.

Plus the continued development of McLean, Jones, Bate, Syliva, Dunn, Newton Petterd and the return of our defenders Rivers and Whelan.

Muppets

That's hilarious. I would think that all posters here (besides Melbourne supporters) think that Neitz is completely gone. I rate him far worse than Rocca now, and i dont have big wraps at all on Rocca anymore.

Robbo can carve it up on his day as can Davey, but you won't win many games with two inconsistent small forwards. If they are having bad games you will not hear a peep from them, and your forward line is then shot.

Davey played all last year with a wonky knee, get your facts straight. And Rocca and Neitz should never be mentioned in the same sentence. Rocca is absolute rabble, BEN HOLLAND kept him to 1 posession in a massive QB. Utterly disgraceful forward.

Get over yourself.

Rocca and Neitz are as bad as each other. Collingwood have (finally) accepted Rocca for what he is, I just wish Dee's supporters would finally do the same with Neitz.

And what facts do i not have straight? Davey is hot and cold, Robbo is hot and cold, and Neitz is past it. Sounds pretty factual to me.

BAHAHAHA!!!! :p You are a dead set joke. You have no idea.
So is your club:
Two pitiful finals displays
You're nearly dead - according to the AFL CEO
Will finish bottom 4 as 2007 was beyond a fluke

Jokes on you buddy.

PS - Give me an indepth analysis as to how the MFC will go in 2008. Otherwise I'll take your comments like a grain of pigs crap.

1. Geelong - Will be challenged but i think still the best team.
2. West Coast - Such a good team, drafted pretty well and will be still be a very good team even without judd and cousins.
3. Brisbane Lions - Late in the year they were very impressive. A stat that has happened since 94' that a team has made the top 4 outside the top 8 the year before and this is the team that will do it.
4. Collingwood - They've got an up and coming team that will do well again.
5. Fremantle - I think they'll bounce back this year, they've got a talented line-up and should be back in the 8.
6. Hawthorn - Have also got an up and coming team but I think there a bit predictable. Have got a couple of ??? in their team. Won't do as good as last year but will still do well.
7. Port Adelaide - Dissapointing end to the season will have hurt them. Will still be competitive.
And the Rest
8. Carlton
9. Western Bulldogs
10. Sydney
11. St.Kilda
12. Melbourne
13. Adelaide
14. Richmond
15. Essendon

No North Melbourne won't finish last. :p

1. Collingwood -
2. Hawthorn -
3. West Coast -
4. St. Kilda -
5. Fremantle -
6. Port Adelaide -
7. Brisbane -
8. Carlton -
9. Sydney -
10.Essendon-
11. Kangaroos -
12. Richmond -
13. Adelaide -
14. Bulldogs -
15. Melbourne -

I wonder where I think Geelong will go...

12. Bulldogs - They are gradually building their list, but they are a few years away again before they show some improvement on the field. They have to be able to replace the likes of West, Cross, Johnson and already Darcy and Grant and right now they have only just started on the path of doing that.
will struggle.

wtf mate are you on drugs or something cross is only 24 and there is no way the dogs will do worse next yr than last.

Pfft

BAHAHA!! :p A FLUKE!! Is that the best comeback you can do. How can you fluke 25 games. You're a dead set goose. We lost to 2 very good teams on the day so what if we got smacked i know id rather finish 3rd and get smacked in 2 finals (woopdedo a loss is a loss and at least we still won one) than finish a pitiful 14th. You're just jealous that we finished 11 places ahead of you even when we have the worst facilities and with all the issues offield. Mate our team will be very good again next year. And please don't say "Oh the dees went bad coz we had injuries", so what! that's why you have the extra 20 players for and don't say that wasn't your fault because it probably was as the players didn't take enough care of their body that they get injured, go have a look at St.Kilda. Sometimes it's bad luck, but most of the time it's the players fault.
And how can you say we're nearly dead. Infact with our membership atm and our sponsors coming up, i think we'll be around for longer than you think. And how do you know what AD was talking about at the cafe' when first of all he could be wrong and second he mighten have said it in the first place. What's that got to do with finishing on the ladder?

By the way i missed your PS. My thoughts on where you'll finish is bottom 4 (maybe bottom 6 if you do better). Because i believe you don't have any stars in your team. I know our team doesn't have standouts aswell but we have depth and that's something you don't have. You're in rebuilding stage so that's why i put you 13th. You never know you might do better than what i'm saying it's only a prediction.
