Top 5 Midfields 2024

Curnow was injured for close to 3 years and showed more than Treacy or Amiss (Who I think will both be very good players)
Mckay missed his first few years with persistent back injuries...

Not sure why you're even comparing them lmao.
Fair enough your right injuries
First 50 goals
Curnow 37 games
McKay 35 games
Amiss 27 games
The anchors are rising walshy!
Strap yourself in

Anchors will continue to be anchored until Longmuir releases the shackles. Both were also playing in one of the worst sides ever when they kicked those first 50 goals so I still think its a moot point

Once freos 3 key talls forward of the ball mature the midfield will get the kudos the deserve.
That’s domination and we’ve been missing our bnf winning tap ruckman for a lot of it.
The four teams below Freo are in the top 6 for inside 50’s with the lowest port having 4.9 more inside 50’s a game than Freo.

Whereas Freo are 14th for inside 50’s. Not sure their midfield is getting much out of their clearances.

This is a fair reflection at the moment I think, Port have been solid through there it’s just the rest of the side which sucks.
I’d give Essendon a run in the top 5 this year though , there depth is very good as well.

Did forget Essendon but not top 8 imo

Merrett very very good
Durham pretty good
Perkins pretty good
Caldwell solid
Stringer solid rotation
Decent rucks with Draper/Goldy

Parish not playing currently but is solid/pretty good

Port Adelaide midfield are overrated. They all like to run forward but defensively are poor and get found out.

You can also include Ashcroft for Brisbane - returning V Melbourne. Also Brisbane at 7 demolished the midfields of 3,4 & 6

Probably swap Papley with Adams. I feel he has more time in the middle than Papley does.

Although, Mills and Parker to get time in the side this year would replace both either way.

Fremantle on track to set a new clearance differential record and still can't crack the top 8? How do you suggest they go about overtaking for example Gold Coast's midfield (who they dominated and kicked 6 midfield goals against on the weekend)?

They’d be very close, and you could make the case. It was a rough ranking, and hard to do.

Freo’s midfield did alright this weekend too against a reasonable Sydney outfit. I know I’m biased but I reckon out midfield is being a bit underrated. (All the midfields look bloody good on paper mind you)

Dewyyyyy

Very good and would climb my rankings 🙏
I think the reason Freo’s midfield performs well but not rated as highly is due to the quality of every player who goes into the middle rather than the individual star power of the players.

We often just list the starting midfield and a few extras when there will be two rucks and about 10 players who go in there in a game. That is Freo’s strength and why we tend to win most midfield battles in the clearance stats this year but aren’t rated as highly.

Or because it’s freo
Darcy bnf AA squad
Jackson rising star AA squad
Serong bnf AA
Brayshaw bnf mvp
Young pick 7 gun
Fyfe bnf 2x Brownlow
2 top 10 picks in Erasmus and Brodie can’t even get a look in
