It was so far to go to burn up Jorgensen. They just don't have the team here.
With Tadej's form someone like Sepp Kuss could help him limit the damage but he'd still be losing the tour in the TTs.

They did the right things today, Jonas just doesn't have the legs

You just can’t give someone a free ride for as long as Jonas did, especially Pog. I get he thought his best chance was to grind him down but it was only going to work if Pog was weak. Jonas didn’t have the ideal prep but no doubt Pog is climbing better than ever.

Another good ride Remco. He’s having a great first tour. Landa showing great form too.

I think Tadej wins but I'm not convinced it's over. Or maybe hoping because I want an exciting third week.

Had our quota of ad breaks surely
They've had a lot more ad breaks this year, but many of them have been very short. Some have contained only a single ad, lasting just 30 seconds.

In the past breaks lasted for 3 minutes, plus the intro/outro graphics, often with a Troll DJ montage after the break.

They may have more frequent breaks this year, but overall we're seeing more of the race than ever.

It's over. Tadej has dominated all 3 high mountain stages, 2 in the Pyrenees, plus the ride over the Galibier on Stage 3. The only time Jonas has looked like matching him was when he went hunger flat after the Puy Mary.

Jonas hadn't ridden a single race between the Tour of the Basque Country (in March) and the Tour (in June), and his lack of match fitness is showing. He's still the 2nd best climber in the world, but Pog has clearly got the better of him despite having ridden the Giro in May.

Yeah. If he had Roglic or Evenepoel like injuries that allowed him the Dauphine it's be different.

Just hope Gaudu or Carapaz can win the KOM. Hate it when these two win everything.

Jonas' form isn't that bad. Without seeing actual power numbers we are seeing some of the best performances cycling has ever seen given the times they are producing. Factoring in the development of equipment, training and nutrition, this is about as good as anyone can produce based on the Ferrari model of clean human performance.

Jonas is riding well... Tadej is off the planet. To be fair, Jonas would be off the planet too, if he didn't get severely injured back in April.

So Pog's ascent on the Plateau was 2 mins quicker than Marco Pantani's in 1998, maintaining 6.98 W/kg for just under 40 mins, better than the infamous Bjarne Riis on Hautacam in 1996.

"Off the planet" indeed.

Nearly 4 mins quicker. Even Remco beat the pirate's time. Landa was only 10 seconds off. Need more weather data but I'd say air pressure was very favourable. Jonas has apparently said the power estimations are pretty close to what he was doing.

Stage 16 Gruissan > Nîmes

The sprinters may be heavily tipped for success when the race heads away from the coast near Narbonne, and maybe even when the riders pass over the Pic Saint-Loup. But the Mistral can blow fiercely at this time of year and could well upset the plans of the sprinters if those teams that feel at home when it’s windy end up scattering the peloton.

It'll be interesting how many of the sprinters continue after today.
Girmay to win Green
Philipsen in case Girmay doesn't finish the race
Cav because it is not like he has another race to prepare for
De Lie for the experience of finishing a Grand Tour, and try and help him win a future stage in Rome, Paris or Madrid

Coqard because Cofidis need the UCI points he should get for placing in the Green Jersey competition

Looking forward to next year's Tour, looks like the Grand Depart is in Lille and be a sprinters stage. First time since 2020 that the sprinters will be fighting for yellow.

Philipsen wins, Girmay crashes, the Green Jersey might be the only interesting thing left in this tour.

Might see someone challenge the big 2 for polka dots.
