What does mafia gain by staying off?

What DERO’s saying is absolutely not unreasonable. There could, and frankly, should, have been mafia on either or both.
It’s not unreasonable and I know I’m not off the hook but there are many others who haven’t claimed or who have remained under the radar or have holes in their claims

Anyone hiding absolutely needs to be searched. Dogs, ND and Headless are all particularly absent. That said, that doesn’t absolve those that are more active.

My contention is with you saying that “most evil stayed out” - the only group I’d expect to withhold is Coven. If anything, Mafia have more reason to jump on both the GUH and Beast plays given they know the identities of their own entire faction. The Mafia are in a position of less uncertainty around what everyone else is, and don’t fear inadvertently taking out a good (village aligned) role.

If Easton controlled mwpp to kill maj then mwpp is mafia and would be GF unless GF haopened to be in jail last night
Reading the OP, the mafioso conducts the kill? But the godfather chooses it. So does the Coven Leader assuming control over the godfather then take control of the kill target?

The mafioso delivers the kill, however doesn’t choose the target.

It’s an interesting byplay as to how that actually works practically. That said, MWPP has also latched straight onto a village aligned role that is in the same investigative result group as the godfather to claim…

I think there’s huge merit to what you’re suggesting but happy for someone to poke holes in the theorising.

I believe only the killing roles can target other mafia, so anyone visited by Mafia probably isn't one.

Timely, I was just reading back. Will bear that in mind.

Yep agree with all of those names. Even add Pickitt . He is posting more by his standards but has he even bothered to vote?

I could’ve added the ligma and the harps wagons (both factions had equal reasons to jump or not jump on them) but point is the same - it’s the same old people voting

you said something earlier today which resonated and it was a genuine sad on my part - not enough care about the outcome to orchestrate a change etc

still pleasantly surprised we got it done tonight after being stuck on 8 for ages

Blackmailer can self visit, enough quiet ones to have experienced that sort of blackmail

Coven wise we know GUH was a self visit based on the fridge list . Question is was anyone else?

Blackmailer (Mafia): An eavesdropper who uses information to keep people quiet. Choose one person each Night to blackmail. They are prevented from speaking during the following Day phase (apart from casting basic lynch votes by bolding a player's name, with no other text). Can not target Mafia members. [DEF = Nil , ATT = Nil]

Fair enough , I stand corrected

Anyway, let’s see what tomorrow holds

Yep. I toed and froed constantly been being convinced he was lying and then believing him completely. Very well played!
Oh that was sarcasm. Think I was first to the Coven Leader party. 😂

That said, it was very well played by Beaston. Said all the right things and was very convincing.

GF and Maf don't have can't target mafia in their description and both have attack.
So either one could kill the hypnotist

So it's possible mwpp could be either one.

About the only thing you wouldn't think is mwpp was coven.

See if they're alive tomorrow I guess

The mafioso executes the godfather’s command, so I believe only the one kill between the two.

What is curious to me is what the Coven Leader may have controlled N3. I think I agree with you and others that have said that there is a compelling case to be made that MWPP is Godfather, although that is largely predicated on there being truth to Beaston’s claim and that it wasn’t just a Hail Mary to throw anyone under the bus.
