This week.... unfortunately everything seems to hang on Essendon being reasonable with their Saad and Fantasia trades. If they dont do that.. they dont get Dunkley. If Dunkley stays at the Dogs then Treloars only legitimate suitor wont have room form Treloar.

Essendon will fold. With their exodus of players they cant afford to not get the one player who wants to join them.

But it will go down to the wire and Collingwood has nothing it can do but wait.

Pickering normally gets players to their club of choice.

If it was all about looking after Bucks the club wouldn't be trying to get rid of Treloar and Stephanson (supposedly) now would it?
Can't have it both ways.

I don't think the club are just looking after Buckley, I'd say bucks would be driving some of the changes, none of us know what's really going on behind the scenes, I'm glad the club is starting to become a bit more ruthless and seeing the deficiencies and doing something about it.

I never thought they were looking after Buckley myself - they saw a critical mass building and did what MM was forced to do - topped up with the final pieces of the puzzle through the draft.
It was just as successful too really despite the GF loss - with any sort of decent luck that was a flag.

I'm getting real sick of Tom Browne's "up to $XXX,XXX" stories. Bloke somehow gets a free pass here because he has a connection to Eddie, but he's a clown reporter who guesses at everything pretty much on Tom Morris' level.

They have been recruiting a lot of big money mids of recent years and it’s been an unmitigated disaster.

He’d be an upgrade on omeara Mitchell wingard Burgoyne impel and Scully....all Hawks midfield and forward imports. And he’d easily improve the list that has lost Smith Puopolo and Henderson.

Treloar would be a better fit for the Dogs though

He only is entitled to the amount in his last year of contract at the Pies- whether the new club pays in full or if the Pies pay part of it. Asking 5 years is crazy from him.

The more and more I see this (and pies looked to have cooked it the most) the more and more I believe the people who say clubs are paying average players way too much. Tom Phillips

is an average AFL player, the average wage is 380k, which is probably around his mark, maybe he should get a little more, but he’s no where near 500k.

Richmond seem to have embraced the NBA style of paying players, pay your stars, move on your average players who want big contracts, and fill their spots with cheap rookie listed players or young players who you drafted 2-4 years ago on modest contracts still.

I didn’t think it’d work in the AFL given list sizes and 18 players on a field as opposed to 5. But here we are.

The way we have used our rookie list has shitted me to tears for 3-4 years now, we left ourselves no options but to keep some of these players by keeping ones we knew weren’t good enough around cause “side by side” and “could come back from injuries”, hopefully the club has learnt (I doubt it cause jobs for the boys). Go find the best winger in the state league, I’m tipping they could average 15-20 in the AFL, but would be a better ball user than Phillips, much cheaper and we wouldn’t have the problems we currently have with Treloar and De Goey who makes up for the 7-8 less touch we’d get without Phillips.
