What's good for the Saints, aint so good for us! We don't need what he brings to the table....

What was that worth ???

Seems the Yarran money wasn't as much as I'd initially been led to believe. Here's an old article I found about the breakdown of the negotiations after Yarrans departure. Seems Yarran was on around $400K for the last 2 years of his contract, and we basically agreed to pay him $50K last year in a lump sum and $50K this year in a lump sum. The way it was told to me was closer to $200K per year with Yarran giving up half of his contracts worth.

Here's an article regarding the Deledio contract
Lids was due to be paid $700K at Richmond in 2017. He signed a $1.5M contract across 3 years at the Giants with the Tiges "paying a substantial portion" of that contract. I'm lead to believe we paid as much as $230K per season.

Nice work!

So that's close to another $300K per year. We must have enough to go after someone good as well as Lynch. I wonder if we are in for one of the GWS boys.

They need to clear nearly $2.4m in cap space this trade period, and have Kelly and Hopper coming out of contract at the end of 2019. They must shift some players.

So are we into that? Very good players coming onto the market, just because they are maxed out on the credit card.

Offers the one thing that sheet truck side lacks...genuine pace!
But so did Murdoch! Granted he's just an average player, but why the **** would you swap him for an injury prone inferior version?

Some strange shit happening down there.

23 next year? 5 years in the system by that stage and he needs to start showing something. If it is a 1 year deal that he’s got hopefully that’s the rocket he needs.

Got the attributes. I like what he did in the VFL final against the bombers. Was intercepting and doing things other than using his speed. Last chance IMO.

Wow, did you also like his repeated out of bounds on the full and missing targets too? I was expecting to see better because I have always thought (like others) that he can be silky on the move. I walked away from that game against VFL Essendon very disillusioned tbh. I've said elsewhere that yeah players can have bad ones, but I'm surprised you thought it was a good game - good passages perhaps, but good overall? Different perspectives I guess.

I guess you missed the bit when I said he was on his last chance.

I have to agree with this as I had high hopes for Menadue also but that VFL final against Essendon was very alarming. He was spraying kicks under no pressure out of bounds - twice in a row actually. I always worry when a player has been in the system for a number of years and we still don't know what his position is? I mean, He's meant to be a winger, but seems to play off half back, then half forward also?

Needs a massive summer.

That trade tells you everything you need to know why we are not into him

Staggered if we hadn't already enquired about Hopper.

Exactly what we need.

No doubt GWS will want to hold onto him but with the cap reduction they need to impose, might be a good opportunity to dangle something juicy to them......

Listening to Scott Lucas it sounds like Towner would prefer to stay. Seems highly dependent on if we offer him a contract due to the players that we’re gonna be moving on.
What if we work on Towner's endurance and groom him for inside midfield beast role? Already has the mungrel and grunt within him, can he sustain that for periods in a big game?

Can I suggest you never apply for a job with our list management team
May I suggest we lost the preliminary final because we didn't trade in any ready made players last year. This is pretty much unprecedented for the premiership team. We need to improve the list to have a crack at the flag .Would you rather finish 4th for next 6 years or win another flag.Scully would improve us enormously. Astbury is a good ordinary player, made to look good by Rance, Grimes and Vlaustin. He can play close and take a grab but has a poor record in big finals games. We will have plenty of picks in 3rd and 4th round to pick some kids. You overate Astbury.

Cole and Duggan wouldn't be getting a game if they played for Richmond, those guys are in their best 22. I think the Premierships gone to their head
Agree with Cole but underrating Duggan here.

Tidy player and was very good in the Grand Final IMO. Didn't shirk a contest and won some crucial 50/50's when the Eagles really needed it. Well done to the kid.

Saints don't have a 2nd.

Scully is only on around $500k a year, so definitely affordable. Everyone remembers the big bucks he originally signed for, but he took a massive pay cut when he signed an extension in 2016. There are also reports Lynch could be on as little as $700k.
Imagine the melts on both fronts
Lynch on 700k which allows us to get Scilly.
Plz make it happen.

Yeah, nah, saw that and agree with that, but you said he had a great game against Essendon and can only guess you were on the other side of the ground to me. I saw what Roksman saw, and some easy missed targets. When he came off for his spells looked despondent and not connected - and we were still in the game. Perhaps the season was mentally over for him. Given the potential exits we have, am happy he's getting another year and hope he can fulfil his early potential. On current exposed form he's lucky.

Hannerbry is clapped out and arthritic. Stkilda only want him for leadership ,he's banged up and slow.He wouldn't be in the games top 100 players any more.I would prefer Liberatore to Hannerbry.
