Hold firm with pick 6 in my opinion

Yep I'm sold on this now, price too high to trade up although i'd shift Cooney to Pies (P5??) for 1 pick upgrade and their 3rd or something...rather than throw Cooney at Blues for nix

I'd do Cooney and 6 for 5 straight away no second thoughts wouldn't ask for more but yes the blues deal is terribly one sided.

Lucky coz I'd actually draft blokes we need not more short midfielders

But hey why get KPS who needs them

Yes... this is the case for trading Cooney. To have a package of trade assets to obtain the "KPS" that we need. But you seem more interested in giving him a lazy salary to do **** all for the last 3 years of his career.

I don't mind when you different ideas out there, but you've been a bit silly today.

Kyle Hardingham wants out of the Bombers any interest as a medium defender? what would he cost a third rounder?

Nope - Ess delisting, poor kick, possible suspension, yuck

I find it funny that some of the guys wanting to trade Hrovrat are also some of the same guys who were complaining all season about the I50 delivery and saying we need better ball movement over a KPF and now they want to trade someone who hits our forwards lace out for a 3 pick upgrade?
I don't think anyone is "untradeable" everyone has their price but Hrovrat for a 3 pick upgrade is crazy, we may even get Wright at #6 but lets say we don't and we are left with Durdin (I think that's who people least want) what would you prefer McCartin or Durdin and Hrovrat? I don't think Hrovrat will ever be a A grade mid (I classify A grade as Beams/Rocky/Cotchin/Boak/Griff etc) but he will certainly be a good/solid 4th mid to Libba, Macrae and Bonts.

Let's show some common sense look at who Carlton are targeting Cooney, Jones, Tutt from us all are obtainable, Mitchell from sydney pick 28 will not get it done, Jaksch from GWS pick 28 will not get it done. They are losing Lucas maybe a third rounder, Robinson very little value if any due to off field issues, Garlett maybe a pick upgrade. So why would we give them charity where Jones and 45 are attainable for pick 28 why chuck Cooney on top of that.

What about trying to get Sydney involved and try to get Reid, probably will be straight away knocked as stupid and Carlton fans will no doubt say why don't we just do the deal ourselves but I will put it up anyway.

Carlton Out: Picks 7 and 28 In: Jones Cooney Mitchell Pick 39
Sydney Out: Reid Mitchell Pick 39 In: Pick 7 Pick 26
Dogs Out: Jones Cooney Pick 26 In: Reid Pick 28

A couple of problems there.

Swans have ruled out trading Reid.

And Michell is surely worth a first rounder?

I don't believe everything I read, so I am by no means convinced that the club does want to trade our 3rd rounder + cooney + jones for 28.

But if we did do that trade it would seem to violate the trading rule: "packaging near valueless prospects does not equal value". So I wouldn't really be angry at that move. But I would be perplexed by how we were supposed to fill the positions on our list.

By contrast I would be really disappointed at P6 + P26 + P27 for P3. That seems like foolhardy trading. Look at Brisbane's drafting last year.

Yup, and take Lever if McCartin and Wright have already gone.

Durdin would also be a good pick up, won't be too much of a compromise if those 3 guys aren't there at our pick (which is a possibility). The biggest knocks I have on him is that he may take a little longer to come on and that he's a SA boy, so there's always that 'go home factor' which seems to go against our recent drafting philosophy. The plus side is that he can play forward or back, which nether of McCartin, Wright or Lever have shown they can do. Albeit not quite to their respective levels.

But if we take Durdin and clean up with picks 25/26 etc then it could still turn out to be a really well-balanced draft for us.

Jones, Higgins, Tutt and Cooney....

How many players on the list? 40?

Give me a spell.

Just for interest. Geelong made 9 changes to their list after the 2007 flag, with 4 players traded to other clubs....

That doesn't make any sense. The thing is, Moore, Heeney and Steele (24) are all worthy of being selected where they are, or even higher really, so they're still within the best 22/24 players in the draft.

A thumbs up was not enough ! Spot on.
This is a pure case of people bending stats or numbers to suit an argument.

Mitch Duncan reportedly being targeted... We keen?
Oh god yes. So much yes. Please god yes.

Only problem is that he would cost a lot. Not sure how we could obtain him.
