Griffen is probably the best two way runner in the game. Let's not revise history here in an effort to console ourselves. As a club we've lost our captain and by a fair margin our best player. We also stand to lose the majority of our senior players. Next year will likely see the end of Morris, Murphy and Boyd. It's imperative that we don't lose any more senior players, because this idealist fantasy where we surge to the top of the ladder with our team of rising stars is just that - fantasy. They need leadership, guidance and motivation from senior players.
Finally some common sense.
I cannot believe the ridiculously large amount of people who have somehow and in some way come to the conclusion that players walking out on the club is some how a good thing.

Dream come true even though he just put us to the sword not sure why he would want to come to the dogs. Is he a dogs man? :p
Can't remember if he's a dogs fan or not but he's definitely from the western 'burbs. Not sure why he wants to come here either but we've had a few posters come onto our board and say it before, I'll try and find em.

I think we can snaffle a good mid with pick 7 and use our 2nd rounders to get some more experience in which we will need.
Any thoughts on a mid we can pick up with pick 7 preferably outside runner and young.

Of course the picks are going to be good.
But surely the impeding worry of players walking out on the club because of coaching and management is a negative that overrides that positive, that we'll get picks for the players that are walking out?

Already been reported thats why they are doing the Jaksch trade to Carlton. So they can give us both. Otherwise they can go **** themselves.

Already reported? Where?

I'll drive Griffen to Sydney myself if we get anywhere near picks 4 and 7.

Not sure to be honest, I understand you'd want something good for him but I wouldn't be offering up more than our 2nd rounder tbh, which is still a pretty good pick at 26 for a 30 year old.

Two years ago , id say pas the pen. Now I say mehhh. P26 mean 2 years min of development put into a 50/50 pick at best. Lonergan may well play 40 games int he next two years. A guy picked at 26 may never play 40, then again he could become a champ.

I agree

If its for just draft picks, it will be 3-5 years before they might get food

can't always get lucky with draft picks either, no player is a sure thing

Once again. There is no way GWS are giving up pick 4 and 7 or pick 4 and WHE. Not going to happen for Griffen.

Maybe pick 4 + 40 is closer to the mark.

Reasons why? other than your own pessimistic intuitions on the matter.

They need to save face here, and Griff is worth a lot to them - more than any other club due to the marquee aspect. They can't bend us over, as we will be stubborn thus ****ing them publicly in reputation in the eyes of the community, and more importantly in the eyes of potential first rate target players.

Barrett reported it immediately. I think you're misreading things here butane. The man is contracted, gws don't need picks and this is the greatest coup on the clubs history. They also face scorn from the footy community for poaching a contracted club captain. They will do what it takes to get it done.

well will not be giving away our R1. We are on the edge of a cliff with 6-8 guys next year , we need young talent and the Minson thing is done with us getting Clark

Interesting with Clark's foot, I doubt he will be playing much ruck...but assuming your list managers think the same way...depends if you are having a carack next year.

Well its pretty hard to work out.

If you are losing Christenson and Varcoe, you need a mature mid I would think...Adam Cooney straight swap. Otherwise its gets messy. Lot of intangibles how is your 2nd rounder going with Melbourne? We have higher one, perhaps an exchange and our 3rd. Who knows.

You aren't getting one our younger players I hope.
