Gordon simply has to go crying poor to the afl and ask for a compo pick now. The afl said no to melbourne but with a nudge and a wink to get Wontthem pick 3 for frawley. Even if we're knocked back this year, we'll be well placed to have a crack at one next year if we struggle again.
Too many exiting, remember we need late draft picks for list spots, otherwise we're buying 2-3 chumps from the PSD and will have 6 rookies plus enormous cap space. Would rather just bank 4 and 7 if we get that for Griffen and trade 2nd rounders for players who want to come to the club (and they will be on good money in the short term).
Does it really matter if we take short term chumps from PSD? We are rebuilding now. We need to hold our nerve, draft best young kids available for our needs. No doubt we will get a very early pick next year also. We can use this as an opportunity to build a great list. Or we can plug a hole here or there and still stay mediocre. Two years of pain for a list that other than the expansion clubs will be the envy of the rest of the league.
I have slept on it and although depressed at exodus of senior players am quite excited about the possibilities for the future.

Must get not 1 but 2 KPFs from this draft, if we do get 4 and 7 from Griffen then why don't we go big on all 3? Or at least for 4 and 6.

Imo we should take all the KPPs if we get 3 top 10 picks and draft outside speed with the probable abundance of 2nd rounders we'll get.

Pick 4 Wright, (can't see McCartin being there at 4 and I still think Wright's a ruckman), Pick 6 Lever and Pick 7 Durdin. Dream would be McCartin at 4, Wright at 6 and Lever at 7.

Change of topic, you know what's a funny coincidence though, all the players who want out are non-Victorian. Griffen, Minson and Cooney from SA, Jones TAS and Tutt ACT. The only Victorians who left were Gia (retired), Higgins and Goodes (delisted), so only 1 Victorian of note in Higgins and it wasn't much of a loss anyway. All of McCartney's drafting has been for Victorians (less likely to be a flight risk) except for Fuller and Schofield? Wonder if this affects our drafting also?

what i would suggest

ward, cameron and carlton(once jakcsh deal done) pick 7 for griffen cooney and our pick 6

the prodigal son comes home and a new era dawns
The newspaper didn't quote Ward as "untouchable" :D And if he did hand in a transfer request then all would be forgiven.

I suggest that we bury his testicle in the ground somewhere, and come back to find our very own Griffen clone!

Hopefully people get that reference and they don't just think I'm deranged.
Pretty sure these events have shown he has no testicles...

No to Ward. Was a great player but we have other needs. You all know my view but this is like Tattslotto. We've won Div 1 and we need to spend the money wisely so we get benefit from it for the rest of our lives.

It'll be 4 and 7 if the Carlton Jacksh trade is done IMO. And we should take it. Hopefully sorted ASAP.
Yep, within everyone's interests to sort this out today I reckon. They should pay us a fair price, we should accept, get out of their way and stop publicly attacking him. Once he's a GWS player he's their problem. Better for everyone if the deal goes through quickly.

Not entirely sure we have the currency. 6&7 for 3 and an undertaking from Melb they take brayshaw with 2-assuming St. Kilda take Petracca?

I'm starting to think its going to be less and less likely we get #4 & #7 for Griff, reckon GWS are going to be campaigners and we will probably end up with #4 and #19 but if we did end up with #4, #6 & #7 I think I'd almost prefer those picks than turning them into #3 & #4. Would pretty much be getting Wright with #4 and choosing between McCartin vs Lever and Laverde I know quality > quantity and we could set up our forward line for the next 12 years but Lever would add some huge leadership qualities into our side and could be that beast KPD we are desperately after while getting the third highest touted midfielder available in the draft (Heeney obv not available). Not phased whichever option we would go for though, wouldn't knock back the two best KPF's in the draft just think I'd slightly prefer 6 and 7 over 3 atm.

Agree problem is we need the Carlton Jacksh trade done first. Maybe we be generous with the Jones deal to get it moving

Dont think 19 or 21 will come into it. 19 to Blues for Jacksh and 21 to Brisbane for Patful. It HAS to be 4 and 7 or 4/7 and an A Grader. Anything less and we will have be pillaged by this expansion club and the AFL and i will switch off from this competition for good

Leadership. Morris, Boyd and Murph need help.

I can see him taking the same views and the same thing happening. His good mate Boyd isn't exactly happy from all reports either.

Aker after he left mentioned our club was the most sensitive club he's been at which says it all. As soon as McCartney tried to tell them some home truths, our player's would reach for the tissue box. I think this was probably going to happen regardless of Crossy being here.

How about we offer Cameron huge cash , straight swap ? ( send Tutt / Jones there way as well maybe )

Good post. I'm sick of being the feel-good touchy feely club.

I want a hard bastard coach and bunch of midfielders who are borderline psychotic. I want our next core group of youngsters make the Wog Squad (who I loved) look like the Wiggles. I want us to be hated again and see every player on the list (not just Liberatore - how history repeats) fly the flag for each other. I want teams to hate to play against us. If our best players currently run one way only and want to be handled with soft mittens, too bad.

Dougie touched on this on SEN yesterday. He said that he had heard that the players were told a few hard truths, which had led to all this angst.
