Again, not to turn this into a McCartney thread, but i disagree with this. If there's been a fundamental failure of coaching/management, that shouldn't be excused just because some players want out.

So we do a review and put changes in place to fix the problem. Just because there are issues doesn't mean the coach should be sacked.

Yes, united with purpose and when performing but you have to be joking if you think everyone gets along on in a competitive, testosterone driven environment. There will always be cliques but it is important to see the value of each and tolerate behaviour within the set boundaries.

Agree. But it's up to the coach especially to engender a uniting vision. a positive team mission, team loyalty, playing for each other... an energizing, positive, uniting force to overcome cliques and personal differences ... sadly team unity and Bulldog mongrel has been lacking at times on field.. with patches of getting totally rolled (first game against Eagles) and not getting up for Gia, etc..

Would be the worst possible move. Would justify the senior player soft c*@ks and undermine the kids and club admin.

If B-Mac left - Griffen stays, young players learn that they can run the club regardless of who comes in and what the message is, we repeat our history of occasionally being the third best team for a short period of time every decade or so.

What's been said and done can't be unsaid and undone. Just get the best deal possible, Dogs, and move on.

Is pick 4 & 7 realistically going to happen? IMO it's the minimum we should be getting. Can just see GWS being difficult on this one and trying to play the age card. They rip the captain away from our club, have previously taken the bloke next in line to be captain...pay up campaigners.

You are right but the timing is wrong. You can't shoot everybody at once. Macca will get shot later...

Totally agree, Macca should be coach next season.

however, plans should be in place for a replacement at seasons end unless there is both clear development and internally it is clear the entire group IS moving in the same direction.

The worst thing that could happen now is the ship changes course due to disgruntled players that were never successful in team environments.

As much as a lot of what he said was dribble, interesting 2 of the players Aker had the most issue with telling him how he had to be in a successful team were Griffen and Cooney, maybe we should have listened more then?

We have an opportunity to really go hard at a strong draft, this group plus the 20 or so core we have in place will provide the incumbent most likely next year to have a great opportunity for success. Wrong thread I know, but I would like someone with experience, who has been involved with success and would have learnt from their own shortcomings the first time around to be appointed coach

As painful as it was, I wouldn't want Griffen sticking around. Move him on and lets get some more young guns/decent KPP.

Not a great look to have your captain walk, but it is what it is. Obviously not captain material so now we pick up the pieces and move forward.

He is the player with the most trade currency (outside of our young players) so I hope we'll be ruthless in the trade.

Ditto Minson. If he is part of the mutiny he can clean out his locker too.

Mark Stevens has just posted that Macca may have resigned. Sorry wrong thread I know but i figure most people are reading this thread anyway. Terrible if true, maybe Macca is as soft as some of the Senior Players.

The club and coach (indirectly) have admitted some fault and wanted to rectify this and were working towards this goal.

The players response - massive dummy spit and throwing toys out of the pram and continued bad behaviour.......

If McCartney is going we have to basically start the rebuild again.

Completely new gameplan and a bunch of new faces. This will put us behind St Kilda in terms of development. Practically pissed the last couple of seasons away (with the exception of draft picks).

Crazy move, I woke up this morning excited about a change for the good, this has thrown a massive spanner in the works.
