I think passing on McPherson means the club is on the same page
In my view the first 3 picks have to go towards obtaining some talls. Yes some of them might be spuds or we might overlook the next fyfe but if we go down the best available route good chances are they aren't going to be talls and even better chances are they aren't going to solve our current problems. We just have to draft KPP depth in. We have virtually none.

Generally when you have a higher pick, it get let out who you are keen on. With the picks we have it becomes a bit more of a mystery. They seem to be interested in Rioli by all reports. I wouldn't mind Rioli and the rest bigger players.
It would be nice to have a Rioli freakshow in the team. He is only 179cm though.

All our smalls apart from Dahl are not goal kicking types, rather specialist midfields, namely Hrovat, Honey, Daniel, Hunter etc. i actually think we could target a specialist small forward like a Milne, Rioli or Betts type, pure crumbing goal kickers.
We definitely need a key back and mobile ruck who can mark more than this but it is probably our 3rd greatest need for a properly balanced team
Yea, I reckon you're right. I remember him being quite a sort after draftee with a lot of clubs interested. Just goes to show that when it comes to drafting young players there is a fine line between it being an informed, smart decision or a lottery ticket.

I'd imagine they've wrapped him up at some point without publicising it. If he wanted to leave that desperately, you'd think they would try to facilitate a trade rather than get nothing for him.

Yeah from what I've read on the Freo board there seems to be some thought that his deal was extended at some point without it being publicised.

A strong marking lead up CHF is our third greatest need after the ruck/defender conundrum, not another small forward.
We have a bloke who kicked 50 goals this year who plays that specialist goalkicking defensive small forward role FWIW.

The recent AFLCA survey had inside mids and KPFs as equally vital (the two most important list positions to fill).Inside Mid is clearly our third greatest need....
If we got a gun inside mid with outside ability at one of our picks I wouldn't be upset at all - inside mid no longer means "hack who can't kick".
