Would a trade involving Reid be a possibility?

Dogs 1st Round Pick (currently #5) + Talia for Ried + Tom Mitchell?
Longmires love child Reid , doubt it plus he is contracted till 2017 and just brought a 1.5 million dollar house in Sydney. Mitchell who knows but your midfield is fine I would think

Would love him at the Swans but cant see you guys giving up a young KPD

Just pick a handful of notes off the money tree your club has up there.

I think I can safely dismiss any notion we were in the running or even a remote possibility to get Carlisle. More chance of pigs flying right now.

Probably should have pushed for Carlisle rather then Crameri last year :p

Though it will be interesting to see what happens if the supplement scandal takes hold, if he is one of many players that want out due to any breech of contract/player well being by the club, we should pounce for sure.

We can dream, we can dream. Better to go after Patton, Tomlinson, Cameron or whoever falls out of GWS. I'd even consider Waite for a few years if we got him cheap.

Means nothing, but did I read somewhere Carlisle supported us as a kid?

Waite is not the answer...

Apparently still wears his doggies jumper to the local fish and chip shop.

I sold him his first phone on a plan when he got drafted. Obviously was rapt to be drafted and did mention to me he was also a die hard doggie fan and though he was on his way to us.

Waite will be 31 before the start of next season... few years?

Them feels :(

I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't have some disdain for us now.

So if Saints are keen to sell the number 1 pick like they've said they might be, should we get involved. Reckon they'd be interested in pick 5 + a player, not sure who I'd be keen on trading but we could get McCartin or Wright.

We just don't have anyone of value to go with pick 5 unfortunately. Would say Clay Smith but he looks done for the year by all reports, which pretty much means value is goneskie. Lets just hopefully end up with pick 5 and hope that a decent tall will still be there!

OR - trade hopefully a decent compo pick for Higgins for Jaksch and then draft best available at 5! Praying!

The next few weeks are critically important to us. We need to persist with Redpath, as well as giving Jones another opportunity, so we can see how the three pronged Jones/Redpath/Crameri, with bonus Bont/Stringer, combination looks at senior level.

But more importantly, we need to sort out CHB. We need to bring in Roberts and/or Talia. Perhaps we have to bite bullet and send Roughie to the surgeons, and bring in both.

So we'd have:

FB: Morris Roberts Picken
HB: Murphy Talia Wood

If necessary we can swap Roberts and Talia around, to see how flexible they are and which is best suited to each role.

We have to resolve this to work out what the plan is for the off-season.

Because this plan could work. Let Higgins leave, trade the compensation pick for Jaksch and pick up the best combination of skills and outside speed in the draft at Pick 5.

Our forward line yesterday, against one of the leagues best defenses nearly kicked 100 points. If we add more polish and leg speed it'll improve further, but it's down the back end we need to resolve. I'm really keen to see how we address the balance of the season.

Roughead & Talia are not the answer for our backline problems, we need a player who can use the ball aswell.
Roughead uses the ball well. Hopefully Roberts comes on because he uses the ball very well.

To get number one if we got an end of first round for Higgins could we trade that being pick 19 or so plus pick 5 for pick 1 ??

Call me nuts, but I think the weekend highlighted more that we can beat high quality opposition without a Patton/Boyd type, than it did highlight that we need one.

On the contrary it showed what a team with a solid KPF can do, Carlisle won the game off his own boot. You could argue the only difference between the two teams were a strong KPF.

Probably not because Durdin has slipped and it appears there is a clear 4 (Petracca, McCartin, Wright and Brayshaw) then a gap to #5. Would cost more than its worth to upgrade our pick to #1 this year imo.

Id argue that the only difference between the 2 teams was a strong KPD to put some semblance of pressure on the guy. We scored well and were very dangerous without a KPF.

Not saying I don't want us to land a key forward, just wasn't my main takeaway from the weekends game.

It is interesting, that we can watch the same game, with the same obvious conclusion and come to different results.

Three options from the weekend (there may be more):

1. We're ok, poor man marking and allowing a player too much space, combined with that player having a day out.
2. We need a KPD.
3. We need a KPF - just look at what they can do...

there are a few ways to skin this particular cat....

Fair enough, I do think we'd go backwards with a tall forward atleast for the first season or so. We already bomb the ball now with no KPF, imagine how much we'd do it with one. I think before we look at getting a KPF we need to look at improving our delivery inside 50.

I think it highlighted that we need one more true KPD.
