Would love Clarke at the club. Always rated him. And he'd be at his cheapest right now so I really don't see how he would cost us $500k? Would just be a case of convincing him that we're the right club for him.

HOMESICK Melbourne key tall Kristian Jaksch will tell Greater Western Sydney he is coming home in the days after Round 23, sparking an immediate bidding war.

The Herald Sun understands the 195cm swingman has already made clear to coach Leon Cameron he wants out but will officially request a trade in his season-ending exit interview.

The imminent departure of Jaksch came as the Giants announced a two-year contract extension for Jon Patton, who was cut down by another knee injury last weekend.

The Bulldogs would have offered Patton a five-year deal but the former No. 1 pick, already locked away until 2015, is now signed until the end of 2017.

GWS list manager Steve Silvagni has had extensive conversations with his management and is aware the Giants have no hope of retaining Jaksch, who was pick 12 at the 2012 national draft.

It is another blow to the club’s batch of talls, with former No. 1 pick Jon Patton needing a second knee reconstruction after falling last weekend.

The 19-year-old is a rare commodity: a high draft pick with two years of development in him desperate to get to a Melbourne club.

He spent time at home for a family celebration earlier this month while battling an ankle injury, crystallising his intention to return home.

Carlton will be a keen suitor but the Western Bulldogs and St Kilda are also crying out for a young key forward.

Geelong and Hawthorn could also emerge as contenders, with the Hawks having form after plucking Jack Gunston from Adelaide as he was ready to hit stride.

Every Victorian club has inquired about Jaksch to his manager Matt Bain, of Stride Management, but none has emerged as the frontrunner.

GWS had offered Jaksch a new deal but is growing increasingly resigned to extracting a pick or player in exchange.

But the ability to trade him to any of the ten Victorian clubs at least maximised their chances of fair compensation.

The Giants still have 17 players who are 193cm or taller on their list, but are desperate to ensure the leakage of Victorian teens heading home does not become a torrent.
I'll say it again. We have our noses in front here. I believe he is very close to nominating us as his preferred destination.

Hey guys, I remember some rumors early in the season that Michael Talia was a possibility to be traded elsewhere at the end of season. Just wondering if you guys had heard anything more to confirm or quash those rumors. As a side note what do you think his trade value would be around.

Not sure if he's settled down and happy or not, but I think his value is a late first rounder. Sounds massive overs for a guy playing vfl all year, but I see him as a blue chip young key defender that's being developed the right way at the right pace.

He's happy at the club and is enjoying his time in the 2nds to help prepare himself for his afl future.

And all the "worried" posts that people made like "what if we'd already signed him to a secret deal" now look utterly ridiculous.

Despite the fact that you cannot sign anyone whilst they still have a contract with another team period, but people still believed it *shakes head*

I would trade for Jaksch, but not our first round pick, slight over for him. I can see one of two options here. Offer our second round pick, but it may not be enough, even though it is fair as he hasn't lit the world on fire and has struggled to break into the starting 22 enough, so his value falls down a few spots from where he was drafted. If GWS decide to play hardball, we have two options. One is to offer our second round pick and a player, or most likely trade up our second round pick and a player into the late first round, and offer that pick up.

Would have said we could entertain the idea of dropping back with GC for their two first rounders, with our first round pick and second. But they wont do that now considering they will likely finish two to three spots behind us, thanks to their massive late season slump. But our first round pick has to be off limits, Jaksch is not worth pick 5-6, and still have plenty to prove

Jaksch for our second pick
Key defender for our first round pick

Would be happy with that to be honest

Don't know where the talk of you guys (!) signing Mitch Clark has come from, but I daresay there's a 0% chance of it happening.

If he plays footy again, you'd think it'd be for the club he loves and was on massive money from.

If he can only play footy in Perth as he fights his mental demons, I'm bitter as hell but fine.

But if he decided to make a rockstar comeback at another struggling Melbourne club (albeit not in the same stratosphere as us), I think he'd be hounded out in a way that would make our 2012 Scully hate look like a picnic.
While I certainly understand your sentiments, and I agree that the likelihood of us signing Clark is close to 0%, that source has proved very reliable..

And for that matter, I'd hope given Mitch's history that you wouldn't begrudge him and treat him like you (rightly) treat Moneybags $cully. No comeback of his would be a 'rockstar comeback', and he gave his all for your club while battling multiple injuries and mental illness.

It would leave a sour taste in our mouths if roles were reversed though, I'd say. If Schofield had left us a few years ago citing homesickness and then signed with, say, Carlton in the same off-season, we'd be pretty pissed off. That's without even factoring in the fact that Clark is a much better player and was on significantly more money.

I can understand the Dees supporters being a little disappointed over the whole thing if it is to eventuate.
