This is a real life example of what I was saying last night, if....................a gun KPF was up for grabs and a quality youngster like Hrovat was a makeweight that had to be used in acquiring the KPF then you'd do it. Geelong got their ruckman they desperately needed and he was a key cog in their era of dominance by trading a quality kid at the time in Moloney, we have been saying for years that we need a KPF, we have had a pathetic record of developing KPFs since Chris Grant's time.

We were blessed back in the 50s, 70s and 80s with quality talls but we didn't hold onto them all the time etc Templeton, Round, Quinlan and even Dempsey left and most of the 1954 side were lured away to wealthy rural leagues or interstate not to long after the premiership.

By the way, what the hell was Norf thinking 15 years ago? Massive overs :D
Big big hoopla at the time though. Colbert left to play in a flag, and I recall Wallace and the dogs heavily interested. That trade built the foundations of their success.

Rumour that Taylor Hunt is looking away from the Cat. I've rated him in the past but I don't know what's gone wrong there. I think of him as a half back flanker but that might not be the case. I'd consider if he was a half back flanker only.

And another one I'd ask questions about is Shoenmakers. Yep, I don't rate him as the number 1 defender either but he's the perfect age, size and position for us. If Morris or Roughead get injured next year we're ******. And they will. Morris is old and I just saw Roughead in South Melb in a sling carrying x rays or something. Obviously price permitting and remember:

Shoenmakers will hit his peak at 28-29 years old(23 now!). If he can get 5%-10% better than he'll be good enough to play in our premiership team.

Anyway food for thought.
I thought he was more a speedy tagger. He has a lot of pace and has been in run-with roles. Courageous, big body but not overly skilled. Can make mistakes by foot.

We don't need to recruit mids. Who's he going to play in front of?
Agree, just that Butane mentioned him. I actually don't mind Taylor Hunt, the difference between he and our defensive mids is blistering pace.
I know Picken has been in the AFL half-time sprint, but Hunt is explosive off the mark.
His disposal isn't first class though, hence him not getting a game with the cats.

I asked the GC trade discussion what's Matt Shaw worth, seems to be a perennial sub player, i'd have thought something like a mid 2nd/early 3rd. We need rebounders after KPPs, I'd be interested in him, 1 of Hawthorns lot in Suckling/Duryea (Birchall would be untouchable), Aaron Mullet, Cam O'Shea etc

Mullet would be excellent if we got him.

Don't worry Cats won't let him go, Guthrie and Hsmith, may have gone past him now, but their ageing Hbacks/Mids will see him stay. Varcoe and stokes will be bandied about though, not really what we need, more a Walker or Brown, which with their interest in Tutt and Wood, could be plausible

Imo Mullet, O'Shea and Suckling are gettable. Suckling has been used as bait by a large number of Hawks fans on the mains board in particular, for around the pick 25-35 mark, he has elite kicking skills even if his lockdown defending isn't that great, we really need more good kicks/metres gained types down there though.

Adelaide have a number of high metres gained type defenders too, Smith would be the hardest to get and Jaensch perhaps as well, Ricky Henderson then anyone?

We need more outside pace?

Have Dal, Bonty and Macca...we need a Garlett or Jetta as that genuine crumbing forward? Just a thought.

Worry we end up being too one paced through the midfield

I know we haven't been particularly good at getting those types lately but I'd rather just target one of them at the draft again. Viojo-Rainbow!!

Norf rate mullet very highly.

North rate every one of their players very highly.... And ignore assessments to the contrary..... Must be some part of their genetic makeup.... Best young players in the league, don't you know.....

Mullet had a fantastic season last year, not so much this year & even got dropped a couple of times. No reason they still wouldn't rate him highly though, but he'd have to want out to be available.

Tutt heavily linked to Melbourne. Awesome news.

I guess it'd be for the best, what with the not having a place in the seniors any more. But I do feel as if he sometimes got/gets (Pending possible trade) hard done by by the coaches. He did a suitable job as a sub, and usually would get dropped after a good game.

He's quick, he's a good set shot, but he's a brain dead footballer who makes poor decisions.
