Blease is the only one that I would consider looking at. And that's just a consideration. Like Dav1d said, a change of scenery could do wonders. He was drafted into a terrible footy system where so many talented players just failed to progress.

The one issue I have with looking at him though is his age. Will be 24 next season. Wasn't a problem for Tory Dickson, but Blease is a midfielder who would be competing with a lot of younger midfielders who have already progressed further than he has. Dickson came in at the right time, where a smart and strong bodied small/medium forward had been required.

Worth a look, but not someone I would chase after.
Just keep tutt rather than adding blease. Fast, long kicking guys with no footy nouse or composure and questionable physicality aren't exactly in hot demand.

What's the deal with Astbury - is he big enough to be a no.1 key defender?

Is he just stuck behind Rance and Chaplin in the pecking order?

Think we should be in consideration for several of these in particular Astbury. Thought he did a great job at the start of this year, beat Cloke and a few others convincingly but I don't know why Richmond would even consider trading him. Behind Rance (who has had a great year), Chaplin, Grimes too probably.

Bellchambers also should be another consideration, he would work very well with Campbell as well as provide a decent forward option.

Blease I am a bit 50/50 over but you cannot deny that Melbourne must have been to worst type of environment to thrive in, when Melbourne for the past 5 years have only really had Nathan Jones as that contested inside ball winning mid. Trengrove, Scully, Morton, Watts, Toumpass and say (bernie vince who actually has done something) are all outside ball getters and they all to some extent were hurt by no strong presence on the inside, Dom tyson helped out in that regard.

Jeez I'd be far happy than taking blease with a very late trade or pick than fuller at 42.

That's interesting what does the club do with Fuller, has just had his shoulder reconstructed, a blind miner can see he will not make it, I think the best result he had in 15 games was 6 possessions, surely the best for both Fuller, and the Bulldogs would be to pay him out, and start again.
Most of us on BF thought we would take Brown, now at North.
Fuller is worse pick at 42, than Howard was at 15.
Howard will go this year after 5 years, how long does Fuller stay on list???????

Im not really against drafting Blease but would prefer as a rookie due to his injuries and being a ex melb player
alllw him to redevelop himself as either a half forward or defender.
him and tutt could be the answer to our speed issuses

I hear ya BP, I'm all for giving blokes time but I don't see it with Fuller...I just don't

If Bellchambers is available, we absolutely have to go after him.

Gun ruck and forward, would work beautifully in a tandem role.

Yes to Jaksch, no to Astbury.

And macca worked closely with BellChambers as well

Let's take every player Macca worked with :p

Get him here and into the soon-to-be-vacant #44, it always suited him better than #2.

How's this for a Hypothetical Trade Period:

Our Main Picks: 6, 26, 27(Higgins compo) and 43.

>Trade Will Minson to Melbourne (Jamars last season?) for Pick 22 and Sam Blease (Looks like his time is up but has been developed in poor environment - Let Macca havea crack at him)
>Trade Pick 27 to Fremantle for Jonathon Griffin (Cant get a game there).

Picks after trade period: 6, 22, 26 and 43 + get Griffin and Blease.
Draft Lever with Pick 6
Draft McKenzie with Pick 22
Draft Best Available with Pick 26
Draft Zaine Cordy with Pick 43.

In: Lever (CHB), McKenzie (FF), (Best available at Pick 26), Zaine Cordy (CHB), Jonathon Griffin (Ruck), Sam Blease (W).

Out: Higgins, Minson, Pick 27.

Don't shoot me. Just hypothetical!

Not against this and think we could do with another mature ruck on our list.
Don't think Griffin is worth pick 26 think a player would be a better off (its overs on our behalf)
Would also trade in a KPD doesn't have to neccasarily be under 25 but one who can sure up our defensive woes.

I'd really just rather keep Minson. Still one of our best players.

Like the thinking, but I believe Minson would be worth more to a club that is challenging or in the 5-8 range and looking to push top 4 next year. Preferably would like to extract a late first round pick if possible and use as currency to land Reid.

Would love Blease. He is a jet. I think Macca could turn him into a decent half forward/winger. We need pace.

Wouldn't say he is a jet but he's a slight upgrade on Tutt. Do want.

What about Luke Lowden he was being talked up for a while but then they recruited Ceglar and McEvoy. Looks like he can handle playing forward.
I'm interested in both Grimley and Lowden. Both have enough talent to work with imo.
