I don't really want to lose Tutt he has the pace that we lack and he was playing quite well until he was a late out one day and he never came back in.

On a serious note, I don't understand how Grant hasn't put on size since being at the club.

I can appreciate body size, genetics etc to a degree, but literally anyone (without a disorder preventing them) can put on size and muscle by eating a caloric surplus each day and weight training.

If you consistently eat 500 - 1000 calories above what your body requires each day (factoring in exercise) it is impossible for your body not to put on size (fat and muscle).

As a hard-core ectomorph with a metabolism forged in the torrid fires of Mount Doom, and with a very similar physique to our fantastical greyhound-wizard hybrid-goalsneak, I can say with some confidence that both of our ceilings in that regard are incredibly low. He is simply a whippet, built for speed, finesse and frightening levels of skill. Unfortunately, some people still see him as a key forward who should be taking big overhead contested grabs.

And from what I've seen, he has put on muscle, and if you figured it out as a percentage figure of his body before weight training, I'm going to suggest that it wouldn't be too far off many other slim players. It's just that the amount of any actual muscle gain, with his kind of muscle fibres and unique DNA (especially compared to what most people would expect when subconsciously comparing to not only to other players but even themselves) is minuscule.

This is what we need, I believe, in priority
1. Quick players
2. Classy players
3. Tall players
Garlett, draft a classy HBFer, then trade for Carlisle?

4. Tall, classy players

That's better. :)

We might not have to trade up our pick 5 according to Paige Cardona's latest draft released about 15 minutes ago she has
1-Petracca (STK)
2-Brayshaw (Melb)
3-Lever (GWS)
4-McCartin (Bris)
5-Wright (WB)

I used to think that but watching Port demolish Richmond with direct, fast ball movement, my line of thinking has changed in what works in finals.
Defensive structures are so good nowadays that you need to get it into your forward line when it is open and you do that when you get it in quickly. And because you have a open forward line because you got it in there quickly, you need dynamic players, a large variance forward line and classy ball users. That's where Stringer will be important. That's why Bontempelli is also a gun, he gets it direct and into the forward line quickly but not too quickly.
That's why you need pace in modern footy.

Don't worry Cats won't let him go, Guthrie and Hsmith, may have gone past him now, but their ageing Hbacks/Mids will see him stay. Varcoe and stokes will be bandied about though, not really what we need, more a Walker or Brown, which with their interest in Tutt and Wood, could be plausible
Why would they be interested in Tutt?
I would have thought there is no way they would be interested in a player that battles to be in our best 22. Geelong are far more advanced than us, so I don't see how they could have any interest in him.

Going back to Taylor Hunt, don't we have a less athletic but more raw version of him with Lin Jong? Tagging player with average skills but goes hard at the ball, but a bit of pace? At least Lin Jong is 190 cm tall and not 183 cm tall like Hunt is.

If we could package Tutt, Jones and pick 5 for 3 or 2 id be all for it!

I get the feeling Melbourne will not be getting pick #3. In my mind, this was strengthened today when Roos voiced he'd expect pick #3 if they were to lose Frawley. If what I'm hearing is true, Frawley has nominated Geelong, and the offer is <$500k per year for 5 years. Given he is an unrestricted free agent, Melbourne can't do anything to negotiate a better outcome for themselves, so it doesn't look like Melbourne will be getting pick #3, given Frawley isn't chasing money.

Now having said that I'm all for packaging Tutt and one of (Higgins/Wood/Picken/Cooney) and pick 5 for 2, if need be. I'm really keen on McCartin or Wright. I'd prefer to keep Jones, as I think he will be the equivalent of Schultz in future years, but if he wants out, then what Leezorr posted is fine.

The proof will be in the pudding tomorrow. Well drilled defensive set up vs outside speed...

Tutt
Wood
Jones
Higgins

Could be a few doggies playing in different colours next season
Can't see anyone paying overs for any of them? Other than Higgins who will bring us a 3rd Round Compo pick at best, the others have little currency and probably don't provide much salary cap relief either. BUT...they're all "list cloggers"...little improvement in their time and unlikely to be in our best 10-15 players

Wood is a must keep IMO.

I think you'd be surprised at jones's trade value as well roscoe. And I can't see us getting anything less than a high 2nd rounder for Higgins.

I was just looking at the offensive side of the game with my post. Hence only talking about forwards and midfielders.

I reckon we might see some of them leave simply because the numbers don't add up.
Gia and Williams are the only confirmed outs.
We're still not sure whether players like Goodes, Pearce and Young will be on the list next year. Even Howard was rumoured to have signed a one year deal.
If we're drafting Cordy, Foster, Pick 5 and two second rounders, we're actually short of players to get rid of.

Means that I'd expect to see a deal like our two second rounders plus a player packaged for Reid.

My heart totally agrees, but my head says Id rather see Talia or Darley get a full season to see whether they can make the most of their talent, than Wood in and out of the side. I see how athletic Wood is but he's not dangerous enough with his disposal or pace. We can't keep guys who are just honest footballers. The list isn't big enough and I'm cracking down on list cloggers
