A few points:

- I don’t think he’s nominated Melbourne yet. Just rumour that he would go there.
- He’s 21, and has shown as a 20 yr old with very limited opportunity as no. 1 ruck - that he does it well. Not really a ‘plodder’ from what i can see.
- He’s 22 at the start of next season... the time most rucks start becoming football ready.
- He’s got about 10cm reach, and 3-4 kgs on Tom Campbell.
- Tim English may not actually become a gun ruck. He showed a bit as a key forward against GC in rd 7 - maybe he’s actually a forward-ruck.

Ultimately Bevo doesn’t seem to rate rucks, so i’d guess it’s a mute topic anyway!!
He's actually 23 now and turns 24 mid-2019. Still not prime age for a ruckman though. Gawn doesn't turn 27 until the end of the year.

Seems that Dahl to Geelong isn't the done deal we all thought it was, Carlton have come in with a big offer, more $$$ and 4 years. If true and he takes the Carlton offer the Dogs are more assured of that end of first round compensation.
Yay, bidding war! Haven't paid much attention to Carlton's list, does Dahl fit their needs better? And what sort of money is being rumoured?

End of first round compo would ease the pain significantly, but seeing a much loved premiership dog run around at the blues might actually make me physically ill...

Where'd you hear that?

Actually Witts was (bizarrely, for mine) roundly and heavily criticised leading up to the trade. I don't get a lot right but I too thought Witts' talent was obvious. It's no surprise to me he ended up a steal, but he certainly wasn't more highly rated than Preuss for mine.

I don’t think he’s very good, think he’s really overrated to be honest. I want rucks to either take marks around the ground (Gawn) or be elite in their follow up work (Naitanui, Grundy). Witts doesn’t really do anything except be tall and get hit outs. Also of the 19 players who had more than 250 hitouts (approximately 12 per game), Witts had the third worst hitouts to advantage percentage only ahead of Kreuzer and Lycett.

39.6% - Dawson Simpson (268)
36.6% - Tom Bellchambers (656)
35.6% - Max Gawn (1042)
35.2% - Aaron Sandilands (446)
34.2% - Paddy Ryder (489)
34.2% - Rory Lobb (366)
34.2% - Tom Hickey (316)
31.7% - Stefan Martin (746)
31.5% - Brodie Grundy (895)
30.9% - Todd Goldstein (783)
30.6% - Ben McEvoy (558)
30.1% - Toby Nankervis (551)
29.4% - Nic Naitanui (459)
29.4% - Sam Jacobs (798)
26.2% - Rhys Stanley (422)
25.5% - Callum Sinclair (667)
24.7% - Jarrod Witts (854)
24.3% - Matthew Kreuzer (276)
23.6% - Scott Lycett (467)

For those interested in our players

29.4% - Jackson Trengove (136)
26.5% - Jordan Roughead (146)
21.9% - Tim English (97)
20.1% - Tom Boyd (204)

Bearing in mind he said the team that runs out in round one 2019 will be completely different to the one that took the field against Richmond, I don't think you can say he has the team where he wants it just yet.

I think that was in relation to those coming back into the side, not so much players coming into the club. Obviously though, there will be many additions during the off season.

I see them as both quite similar, very tall, new(ish) to the game and finding their way. I just wouldn’t overpaybfor someone like Preuss who isn’t a big need.

If Redpath does retire and Adams actually wants to go and back to Perth, I’d be trying to get gold of hugh Dixon. We have Schache and probably Boyd as kpfs, not sure how highly rated Dixon is went at pick 44 last year and was solid in a slightly injury interrupted season in the WAFL. We really need to add 3 things to our list speed, kicking and goal naus. Two of those we should be adding through our forward line.

I'd much rather see him battle away at Carlton, then Geelong. At least then we know his intentions for leaving were purely career/money based, and not for success.

And going to Geelong is guaranteeing success? They built a list to win premierships last year and this year and have come up short and now have a list full of old A graders and then sweet FA coming up behind them.

The only 'old' A grader they have is Ablett and that was worth a punt. Danger is in his prime and Selwood is still ticking along nicely. They hold onto Kelly and Duncan and their future is relatively set.

Compared to Carlton and us they are more poised for success in the short term.

His reason for leaving is he no longer wants to be at the dogs

Really? Henderson, Taylor, Selwood and Hawkins are all at or near 30, Ablett is gone, Menzel is gone and Dangerfield is 29 next year. They also have a whole bunch of average and below average players.

They can do their time outside the eight.

Lol yeah it’s always the players never the club

How we haven’t won every flag for the last 50 years is baffling when we never do anything wrong
How we won a flag in 2016 is baffling when we always do everything wrong. ;)

See you are trying to be funny but you are actually 100% correct

I have no idea how and this group will not get close again. Bev may not even make finals again I think next year could be his last with us.

Well I think it is fair to say that we have reached the point in the evolution of free agency - unfortunately, where it is wise as a supporter not to become me too attached to individual players as very few will remain ‘one club players’. Support the club, back the decisions of the list managers, and perhaps don’t let your kids become too attached to one player as their hearts are bound to be broken.
