Exactly. And we wouldn’t take it. Why would Sydney do a similar deal for Florent?
If Florent has said that he is desperate to be in Melbourne and wants to go home for compassionate family resons, then it is difficult for Sydney not to take the best deal the market offers, like Hawthorn taking a pick in the 20s for a young triple premiership star like Brad Hill

If Moores on 600k then it would take 1m for us to be at least a 30/40% shot.

I’d maybe consider it if we missed Keath. Cordy ain’t the ChB to get the job done.
There's no way I'd be paying $1mill for Moore. Anyone we pay that kind of money to needs to be of a higher calibre than Macrae, Naughton etc otherwise disharmony can ensue.

For $1m I'd want a player who is durable.
Moore isn't.

Your concerns are pretty valid.

Still 1m is what it would take.
Let’s say he’s on 600k. Collingwood would be able to cut other players to bump it up to 800k. And if we offered 800k as well he would obviously stay.

FWIW I don’t think 1m gets the cream anymore. 1.3m is probably the new 1m.

Coniglio etc type amount of money.

I certainly agree that 1m a season to Moore is a massive risk for the reasons you have outlined.

Hence 600k for Keath is a better/smarter play.

The deals we will most likely get done is
Keath
Martin

Ones we were going to go for but have gone away from now
B Hill
Dont be shocked if Tipungwuti says thanks to the Bombers and takes up an offer from us.

I don’t doubt we’re interested in Keath and Martin. Getting the deals done is a different matter. Not concerned about Carlton for Martin?

That's probably right but 1mill would still put him in Bont territory and ahead of Macrae, Naughton etc so his value/quality needs to reflect that.

That's why I'd be passing on a Moore.

I'd much rather us look at 2-3 players who can add significantly to our best 22 but be more in the $400-$600 bracket.

Would be stoked with Keath and Martin. Reckon that'd leave us with around $500k for a 3rd acquisition.

Not concerned at all and I know Keath and martin has been spoken about , just saying the things I've heard about the ones the club is more confident of getting done.

$650 Thousand for Tipungwuti.

Keath seems the most likely to me, along with Isaac Smith.

The Carlton link to Martin worries me, but every player link to a major club seems to get talked up as massive/absolute lock every single time, so hopefully we're a good chance.

All signs seem to suggest that Brad Hill will not happen. Saints offering massive money that we simply won't be interested in competing with.

I have doubts over Tippa coming to us, and don't really mind missing out

In percentage terms, what chance do you reckon that is of happening?

For mine, Tippa isn't really a $650k player, although it could be argued his marketability would generate significant returns on top of his onfield value
It's been spoken about that he loves the Bombers and what they have done for him, but wants to strike while the best deals come to set up him.and his family and it's been heard that of all clubs, our style he think suits him the most.
The pull of staying could very well make him accept less and stay at the Bombers, but I've heard he is thinking about it seriously if it becomes official after their season ends.

Im all in on this guy, seems like a dalhaus type who can kick well. Would be real fun to watch play for us.

He is a 'striker' so will suffer from some inconsistency in goal production like they all do, but he consistently averages double the pressure acts of any of our other three strikers - lloyd, dale or dicko.

and his goal kicking accuracy is very high. kicked 26.14 last year and 28.10 so far this year.

at $650 tho... well, martin may be the moneyball pick, but how much does HE want?

At the rate we're going, I am tipping us to finish with Pick ~13 (assuming we win in the first week of finals, then lose second week to one of West Coast or Brisbane) which I'd hope would be more than enough for a straight swap. Florent was taken with Pick 11, and has been decent without blowing anyone away. I'd like to think that our first in a straight swap would be slight overs if anything, although he is contracted and apparently quite highly rated within Sydney. Not sure what kind of sweetener we could really offer tbh, considering we don't have any players of interest for them (unless Webb was interested in heading up as steak knives, but he could be DFA anyway)

Didn't someone here claim that the Swans were asking about Williams?

Sounds a bit Dahlhaus-esque...

Heard where?
