I’ve only noticed Bruce this year for some reason. Looking over his last few seasons, he’s been pretty solid in that time.
A Key Position brigade of English, Naughts, Bruce and two of Schache/Young/Cordy ( depending on where Naughts and Bruce play ) would be pretty good.

If it’s fair dinkum, I’m in on Bruce

If we get Bruce, he takes Naughton’s spot, sending Naughton to fullback

If Schache keeps improving, I don’t mind that move.

I mentioned above we can’t play the three key backs but both Naughts and Youngy can play the Wood role eventually so could fit three back there with Schache and Bruce up fwd.

I’d probably prefer another set up, but that could work.

We play 5 key position players currently including the ruck. The only other top 8 team that does this is Richmond. Maybe Collingwood.

Brisbane play 7, WCE play 7, GWS with 7, The entire Geelong backline is tall.

I think we can fit all of Naughton, Bruce (hopefully), Schache, English, Keath (hopefully) and young in the same team. Giving us 6 KPPs.

Not in a full list it's not. Can't presume everyone is always available

They have been for most of this season.

I was more so referring to the actual 22. Getting the balance right.
I have no issue with any of our squad playing in the twos as it means they aren’t doing enough or our best side is really strong, so however it plays out is ok with me.

Schache wont make way for Bruce they are different players. We would need a seriously quick player crumbling or applying pressure if we added Bruce to the fwd line

Schache has been dropped twice this year, once for an extended period. It doesn't matter if they don't have the exact same playing style; Schache's spot in the forward line isn't locked.

If we get and play both Keath and Bruce, which I think is unlikely, you won’t see all of Schache, Cordy and Young in the side. You start to lose way too much run and carry and pressure game with that many talls. If we had highly skilled players like WC we could get away with it, but unfortunately we don’t.

We are the highest scoring team as of late and schaches a huge reason for that. Hes a 22 year old player whos seriously improved and who's talent is clear for all to see. Hes not getting dropped anytime soon

Bruce is 27, honestly doesn't feel like he's been around that long tbh. Did he start late or just spend quite a few yrs up north before coming to Saints?

Cordy not in my starting team.

1 ruck - English
3 KPFs - Naughton, Bruce, Schache
2 KPDs - Keath, Young.

Good form doesn't always equal good longevity. Tom Boyd was a huge reason we won the Grand Final, yet he's not on our list anymore.

If Schache can keep his scoring form up, he will stay in the team. If not, he's the obvious option that moves out for Bruce, unless we move Naughton to defence.

If we only play one ruck we can play a third tall defender.

I like the two tall defender set up we have. Wood, Crozier and Duryea all good overhead. And we want to go shorter with more rebound in the backline. Then win the aerial battle up forward with 3 marking targets.

Also Bruce/Naughton can chip in defense for a little bit so that we always have 2 talls in defence (although tall defenders spend basically 95% game time on field).

I think it will be a lock as his back half of the year has been good! He runs all day and has a good set shot %. With another preseason under his belt he will be easy best 22 next year....

True but we then have flexibility depending on who we are playing on how to set up

so If we land Bruce and AMT would AMT thrive in that forward line? And who is making way in the forward line? Has to be Dickson and naughton?

Probably flown under the radar playing for poor clubs (GWS early years & Saints)
