Would love to get our hands on Jesse Motlop, in Freo NGA but can’t match within the first 40. Our picks will be wiped out from Darcy but if we can manage to trade back in and pick up a small forward of Motlops class that would be massive.

Not quite. There's no matching allowed in the first 20 picks this year, then next year that's extended to the first 40 picks.

Seems a fair few see Darcy as a defender, shifter compares him to Harris Andrews.
I think I'd prefer that he does turn out to be a defender to be honest. English as a No 1 ruck still makes me very nervous and Darcy's ruck work didn't look all that impressive from what I've seen of him.

I hope we go on the hunt for a No 1 ruck this year.
He only appeared on the first-round radar of clubs with his first two performances for the Chargers - playing at CHB.

We're first on the ladder, we've only just started playing the no 1 pick from last year, we have two genuine A grade mids tocome into our side for finals (Dunkley & Treloar) and we're guaranteed to get a top-3 kid int he draft (and a top pick next year, Jordan Croft).

What a time to be a Bulldogs supporter

It's different in SA and WA. Because he's from a metro region he can't be matched before 40. Seems very convoluted but apparently it's the rule.

I know chb is a bigger need but he seems to be a natural goal kicker so in my opinion you shouldn't waste that ability in the backline.
By the time he is ready to go hopefully we can add another key defender through trade our free agency.

Hey team, McCasey must still be on the radar right? Hasn’t played seniors once this year for Radelaide as far as I can tell and isn’t injured.

There is a young man Vande….can’t spell his surname who plays for Footscray( no. 70) 200cm, left footer and plays in back line. I like what I’ve seen on tv and would speculate on putting him on list or at worst rookie him. I think Darcy + raak / vander? would do nicely. Raak to replace woody and vander to maybe be replace a retirement / delisting.

Is he actually any good? He doesn't even seem near selection with Talia missing the year. Other kids Worrell and Butts are ahead of him.

We haven’t been linked to a spud tall forward this year. I am starting to suffer from an identity crisis, as I am sure that being a Bulldogs supporter means that you constantly urge for a tall forward. Even a Spud tall forward like Tabenar looked like an option in the past.

With Sam Darcy this year and Josh Croft next year…. I might start pining for the forwards.

It'll be spud key defenders now.

I can see Hawks fans offering up Hartigan for a second - "it'll really set you up for a flag tilt guys, just pay up"

The good old days when we were linked to every forward in the AFL

Re: Hawthorn they are in pretty big trouble, any list decisions you assume will be rightfully taken away from Clarkson. I think McEvoy is very gettable, imagine him resting in defence while Timmy rucks and then Timmy going forward when McEvoy rucks. Ideal.

They’re going to start playing him forward in the SANFL to try and get him going. He’s been pretty poor in the SANFL to date apparently.

I think we can have a decade of top 4-6 finishes (in the same way Geelong have been thereabouts), but with hopefully a few more flags.

Factor in that we could realistically play in a gf this season with Marra (he’s a 50/50 to be in our team in finals), Darcy and Croft (all probable top 5 picks) yet to be put in the side. You add in players like Naughton, Weightman, English, Smith and Dunkley will all be close to playing in all those years and others like Dale, Daniel, Williams, Bont etc probably have 7 seasons in them.

very good times.

I would like us to target Brodie Kemp from Carlton. I think he is going to be a very good 2nd KPD/CHB. He was drafted as a midfielder but keeps growing and is developing well, even in the dumpster fire that is Carltons (lack of) development program. He would be like a taller Williams and could in time handle bigger opponents.
He would be one of those buy low players and offering a better development program & opportunities for multiple flags, should be something to consider.

IF he was keen, I would be after him this year before he plays at AFL level and his price goes up.

I liked him in his draft year. He's Bont height at least now.

Not particularly.
He seems like a significant downgrade on Schache TBH.
Even before Schache's move to defence I considered ruck support a more pressing area of need. If Schache can hold his spot, that ruck support is the definite need - especially with Weightman diminishing our need for a small forward.

Over Bont height now. He would be a great get and isn’t even getting AFL exposure at Carlton. He should have got at least 1 game to show him the level he needs to get to.
M Murphy being gifted 3 of the next 4 games, is an indication on how badly that clubs is run.

Has he done 2 knees now? I was hoping we'd take him instead of Weightman. If he still has speed and mobility I'd be keen

As far as I know Kemp would have been our next choice in the draft after Flea. I like him. Carlton is apparently big into Lipinski.
Pretty sure it went Pickett, Bergman, Flea and Kemp on our preferences.

Based on what we know now Flea would be either second or first.
