So long for Jon Ralph's Lobb to dogs near certainty with Melbourne now after him.. ugh I hate Melbourne
Well he actually makes perfect sense for Melbourne given they’ll have the cap space they were saving for Jackson and he can be involved in the deal.

I think Lobb is actually better than Jackson too (at this stage in his career). Gives them a much better forward option to contend for 2-3 years. It makes perfect sense.

Guess it depends on has Lobb already agreed to terms with us or if Melbourne are willing to make an offer that blows ours out of the water

I reckon he’s happy to go to whoever can get the deal done provided $$ are in the same ball park. Strikes me as a business decision nothing more, just wants to get to Victoria

From what is reported seems like Lobb and the Dogs already have a deal in place just not officially. Which may or may not be the case. A lot of variables but if he has already agreed a deal I would hope he follows through on it.
Dee's being Dee's though might get desperate and throw a ridiculous offer at him which we won't match. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Has it been reported they are into him or was it just a journo suggesting it?

I remember reading somewhere few weeks ago Melbourne wasn’t interested.

When it comes to drafting and trading, Melbourne is not exactly known for its scruples. Which is exactly the reason I and some others don’t feel glad for their success. They are as shady as the winter solstice evening is long.

Im pretty sure that it was more of a 'it just makes sense' type of hypothetical from the journalist.

Lose one ruck forward to a club. Take one ruck forward.

As usual the wishes of the player are conveniently put aside in these types of fantasy trades.

Think about it for a minute. Jackson's recruitment is going to push Lobb out of the side and a trade between Melbourne and Fremantle does make sense. Yet despite Lobbs managements spurious denials, he has only been linked directly with one club when he'd have no shortage of suitors in Melbourne. It kinda suggests that we identified this fact, were pro-active very early and that this deal has been in the making since news of Jacksons likely departure form Melbourne broke publicly.

Having said that, there is a very real possibility that he will discover a long forgotten family history where his great great granddad single handedly carved out the Great Ocean Road with a spoon in the years after WWI. Thus declaring a newfound desire to join the Cats making any prior agreement with the dogs null and void. 'Sorry Dogs, I need to honour my GGGrandad!'

We also might be the only team offering him 4 years

Was originally reported as 3 then the WA journo said 4 so I imagine it might be 3 with a trigger. 4 does seem a bit risky

If true of course, but 4 would be ok if it’s as front loaded as possible

If we could get an upgrade from our second to a mid first (12-15) for Hunter. I’d absolutely take that.

He’ll be turning 28 at the end of this season and he’s not getting any quicker. Could see the game moving past him quickly.

Give West the #7.

I'm not going to say i want Hunter gone/traded, but would love seeing West in the number 7

Except O'Halloran, maybe?
No except Callaghan, there are thoughts about doing a Boyd thing with him and getting him to come after this year somehow, but was more if Dunkley wasn't going to sign, but i think the feedback they are getting out is Josh will resign soon,

I saw that too. If that’s the level of insight we’re getting, may as well switch off.
Funny thing is one of the talking heads just made the comment off the cuff but you can rest assured the media will run with it some time this week.

Also in what world does Lobb have the bargaining power to ask for any sort of 4th year, even if it is incentive based. I'd laugh him and his manager out the room, very luck to be getting 3 years put on the table.

If the trigger is playing 50 games across the first 3 years that's probably ok.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this but Bevo in the rooms on Saturday night was congratulating the boys on the far wall one by one. Got to Hunter and didn't give him the time of day. I understand not congratulating a player who didn't play but the manner at which he didn't acknowledge his presence, turned around and walked away was unsettling. It was cold. You could see the disappointment in Hunter face too.

Tom Browne has reported on Triple M Footy this afternoon that Rory Lobb has informed Fremantle that he'll request a trade.

“It’s my understanding from speaking to a club over the weekend, they’re of the opinion that Rory Lobb has informed Fremantle of his decision to seek a trade at the end of the year,” he said.

Browne believes that the Western Bulldogs are in the box seat to land the 29 year-old's services.

Hopefully does us a favour in round 21 and sits out.

So that rules Lobb out from joining us….

:p
