I struggle to see how we have cap issues when McGoverns contract has only 1 year to run, Gaffs the year after and the likes of Shuey, Redden, NN, Hurn etc will be retiring. We will be struggling to meet the minimum salary cap requirement in a couple of years and Barrass is contracted until 2027. Realistically you are zero chance.
I don't really know where all the talk started. You can't blame the supporters of a club dying out for a key position defender getting excited over posts suggesting we're looking for one, as I said to another West Coast supporter, if there's zero chance of him leaving, then that's all that that needs to be mentioned on your end and there's nothing to be concerned about.

Let us enjoy speculating about it. It's not too unlike Eagles supporters talking about Tim English and signing him in two years when his contract ends, it's fun to talk and think about it.

You would have to think if West Coast will never trade Barass, then there is no reason West Coast supporters need to read through our draft thread. Like their conjecture around English no one really knows except the player and clubs.

Why aren't we going after Logue instead of Barrass.

Barrass will cost the world.
Barrass is 10x the player Logue is currently - Barrass is in the top handful of defenders in the comp right now, Logue would be what, top 30 if he’s lucky. Has some decent attributes but he’s still really all potential right now

Hunter still has two years left on his contract. No team in thier right mind will take him with all his issues. How do we get him off our books ?
Although Hunter has his issues, players with plenty to offer usually get second chances.

Hunter is 27, has 171 games experience with a generally strong team and has been in the leadership group.

A couple of years ago Bont named Hunter as our most valuable player, largely for his ionfield coaching, leadership attributes and gut running.

Plenty of Dogs insiders from those days are at other clubs and will be well aware of those qualities.

Wingers who can run hard both ways are also in short supply.

It's been mentioned in here that Hunter has been told to explore his options, so presumably we'll let him go for next to nothing.

I would be surprised if there is not a club out there, with cap space, looking for leadership and on field attributes Hunter has to offer that will be prepared to take a punt on him at a cheap trade price.

Unless we attach a first round pick to it NO CLUB will take Hunter. The stuff the footy industry knows about Hunter is not something you can just brush over. He has major hurdles to overcome.

Can you explain to me how we get hunter off our books with two years left on his contract ?
Pay Collingwood $299k pa to take over his contract?

Despite his issues, Hunter would walk into at least half a dozen other best 22s.....

I don't think we'll have trouble off loading him.

His issues are far from unique in the industry.

My main issue is that he’s the most one sided lefty I’ve ever seen, whether the rumours about the prostiute and the goldfish are true is neither here nor there .
