Off field changes such as good assistants will have a greater impact IMO than personnel on field changes.

Bev NEEDS help and good assistants

Messy in the coaches heads, messy at selection, messy in developing players in their roles, messy on the field and messy results

Confusion reigns

Need swift action no delay sort out the assistant coaches get the right people on the football department.

The list is okay just need some smart acquisitions and get players knowing their roles and been developed in that role. Give the team some continuity in knowing their roles. Eg Weightman stay down, Naughton JUH (will be a great player ) flying for the same ball. Get B Smiths disposal sorted get speed of legs in midfield and speed in moving the ball , teach small forwards what pressure looks like and where to be to crumb and get defenders taught in positioning their bodies in 1 on 1 contests.

List is too good for the assistant coaches we have given them we are not doing the right thing by them.

Ameet where is our soft cap been spent I cannot see it in the coaches box and in the football department.
Agree entirely

Here is were the JJ linked to the suns come from.

Gold Coast has put a three-year offer to Bulldog Jason Johannisen

What I’d give for us to display even 50% of the pressure that was put out there by Collingwood/Geelong. Not saying go and copy the Pies game style but I’ll live with the results more comfortably if the hunger and intensity is there.

We have pick 11 and one would hope an early pick for Dunkley. Hopefully no more than than our second rounder for Lobb and that maybe overs given his age. What is our wish list for young talent I would say speed if we get Jones and move Astro to defence. I am also hopeful Buku will become a good defender.

no way we can match or get near GCs offer for JJ. has been overpayed for years and if he stays he has to be low balled, hence he should leave, i would, Hunter in a similar position.

Lobb is no star but means we play 2 rucks most weeks. Would i take him if we werent already committed to our 'ruckman' and all that comes with him? No way!
please no more VDM, one of the most unnatural, innefective footballers ive ever seen, with a fragile body

and in the space of one press conference I've gone from optimistic that Dunkley is staying to convinced he's leaving. Bevo does not have a poker face

Could I ask if it was specifically answering a question regarding Dunkley or another player?

I would not be too hasty in getting rid of players BEFORE the coaching and development areas of the club are addressed.

Players especially this list I feel is not been supported by good coaching staff especially assistants.

Our on field performances reek of confusion and lack of direction. It is almost everyone for themselves no plan or cohesion
But there are players there who played in the 2016 Premiership and should go for a start. Two may go through free agency or contract offers elsewhere but two in my opinion should be either traded (Hunter) or traded/delisted (Cordy).
There are players that need to be moved on for us to move forward.
I believe a player like Scott or McNeill would give as much as Hunter on a wing. McComb who is very average would give a more physical presence than Lachie to honest.
It showed in the game how important Toby McLean is to us as a role player in the team. He does the hard stuff, i'm looking for a big season from him next year.

He was very matter of fact about player movement. There was no optimism in his answer to the Dunkley question. He also gave me the impression JJ is done and surprisingly Cordy might be gone.

The problem with cutting Cordy is who will we replace him with? A possibly cooked Liam Jones?

Keath looks cooked. The cupboard is bare for available keys defenders around the competition

Then we play kids there, trade or draft.
Cordy is worse there than what any kpd kid would be.

I’d happily trade Hunter. Does anyone need some “experience” - his slow and his skills are terrible.

Don't see any club taking on his big contract, shows the risk in 5+ year contracts and game can move by quickly, his and JJ's contracts have been terrible value for money

The thing people need to start get their heads around is that there’s a possibility that this team’s window in its current iteration was 2019-2022.

Sputtered through all of those H&A seasons, potentially cost ourselves a flag with a 3 game skid out of top 4 at the end of 2021 and lost EFs in 2020 and 2022 that we should have won.

This team either needs some real change to the gameplan to get more out of the current list or about 6-8 moves to significantly change the dynamic of the best 22, which could take several years if they can’t come from within. Maybe bringing in 32 year old Jones and 30 year old Lobb allows us to rejig the game plan in the short term.

There’s obviously some fringe 22 young talent on the list that could potentially propel the team forward, if they establish themselves as impactful best 22 players: Darcy, Marra, West, Garcia, Buku, Cleary, McNeil and others.

I’m obviously not saying we can’t continue to contend, maybe Lobb and Jones change the 22 enough for some notable improvement, but there’s a real possibility one window might be ending and we’re starting a multi year process to build to the next, if we don’t intend to change our method on field.
That’s depressing reading but probably true, and even more reason why we need to look at changing our list

Same reason why giving Caleb Daniel 4 years was silly.

Agree and Dale also was given far too long a contract, these contracts should only be for Bont Macrae Naughton type players, lots of clubs are gonna get caught out as they are being given out to huge amount of players now.

Anyone having a go at English, have you had a look at the Rucking combo from 2016? We were getting smashed then too, difference was that the midfield was more desperate. They knew we were going to get beaten so went to work on the opposition players to create pressure or shark the ball. English isn't the issue, the team, barring a couple, have no fire in their bellies. When it gets real hard, they fade away.

This isn’t a ‘plan’. Relying on your midfield to make up for a shit ruck duo isn’t exactly good management or something we should be striving towards hahaha. Especially now there’s no 3rd man up, there’s the 6-6-6 rule in place etc

No one else relies on their midfield to make up for their shit ruck, they just get a better ruck combo

Sadly, I'm not confident we will be changing that much for next year. The talk of loading up for future picks and the talk of bringing in Rowe and Sullivan doesn't fill me with any confidence.

I really don’t know what to make of English. I’ve spent all season flip flopping between Lobb would be a great signing to support number 1 Tim, to thinking Tim is never going to be a genuine number 1 for a whole game/finals and we need another best 22 genuine ruck like. Still none the clearer.
Would you take Lobb or Meek?
Yep it’s a really hard one, probably due to his performances just being so damn inconsistent - one week we’re reminded he can be the number 1 guy, the next we’re reminded he cannot.

What do you do there? No idea tbh, but I think it’s now at the point that we just can’t rely on that inconsistency. I think we find a genuine ruckman that can compete week in week out and then if English comes on great it’s a bonus. We’ve wasted so many years relying on him though, quite incomprehensible.

I still think he could be an absolute weapon utility/2nd ruck. This doesn’t mean he has to waste away at FF like some seem to believe. He’s a unique player with a unique skillset, why shouldn’t he have a unique role? Get creative with it, unfortunately creativity is not something this club has had for a while

If Dunkley goes - is our window shut anyway?
On field gives his all, off-field one of the most professional players on the list.
