This from The Age. Disturbingly it also says we are considering 30 and a future 2nd for Lobb and a late pick.

The Western Bulldogs and Brisbane Lions have not advanced talks on a trade for Josh Dunkley with the Lions offering pick 21 and their future first-round pick, but want pick 39 this year back so they can recover some points needed for father-son selections Will Ashcroft and Jaspa Fletcher.

The Bulldogs won’t hand over 39 and want the Lions to add later picks to the pick 21 and future first-rounder that is on the table.
That's a shit house deal in itself.

Sam Power could always throw in a threat to put in a bid on Fletcher at pick 11 to take the Bears into points deficit next year.

Let’s call it the Putin option.

Not even a threat, a promise. More than that, actively working with North (you like Dunkley, Clarko? Yeah? Great, want to work with us to screw the Bears?) to bid on Fletcher at 2 after the Plastics bid on Ashcroft at 1.

Not so funny now is it, Bears?

I don’t get obsession with “sending a message”. The only people I hear saying sending a message is important are fans. The next player that wants to leave the dogs won’t give a s**t about some imaginary message Sam sent this year. Having an extra 1st round draft pick next year is far more important.
They’ll give a shit about the very real chance they won’t get to their destination, and opposition clubs will give a shit about it too. They’ll know they can’t bend us over and won’t try it.

This has absolutely nothing to do with fans.

The thing with mediation is that you must first agree that the player will change clubs and that the mediators decision is final.

That means, you have to accept the deal tabled by the mediator.
Would the mediator factor in Brisbane’s other needs re: points or just do exactly what’s fair for Dunkley?

I suppose I'm hopeful that the mediator tells Bears to pull their heads in?

Lobb needs to start making some noise like trade me or you can pay me to play for Sth Fremantle or I'll just cause trouble in the dressing room etc... or spend the year injured? Surely his manager can be a w***er like Pickers?

TBH I'd rather do that than hand over pick 21 for Lobb.

Colin Young - seems to be in some sort of open warfare with the Freo administration.

I don’t think I’d be using Pickering’s technique as a template for how to be a successful manager.

The good guys!

Yes, what an absolute load of tripe, that Brisbane are doing all the compromising, so that the Bulldogs don't miss out.... If they hadn't arrogantly traded out pick 15 in the first place, the deal probably would have got done. More attention needs to be given to the shizenhauzen 'player managing' that Prickering seems to indulge in as well. Take Dunkley to the PSD...then Prickering can really squirm and explain himself.
