I’ll be furious if we pick up McKay. He will get absolutely burnt in our system for pace when we leave so much space for defenders.

Also his foot skills are probably worse than Gardiner‘s. So I’d expect more unforced turn overs that lead to goals.

We won’t be getting McKay I hear the $ he wants and years I would think would be offensive to others on our list

There are 16 AFL listed players playing in our VFL team today but when you look through the names you have to question whether many of them are really worth keeping next season. I know we probably can't have a total 'spring clean' but it's becoming very obvious we need renewal.

B: C. Clarke (8), J. Busslinger (5), R. Gardner (43)
HB: T. O’Brien (22), H. Crozier (9), L. Cleary (36)
C: R. McComb (27), L. Sullivan (53), R. Smith (37)
HF: O. Baker (13), B. Khamis (24), J. Chatfield (52)
F: C. Raak (40), M. Hannan (29), H. Gallagher (12)
R: J. Sweet (41), L. McNeil (30), J. Garner (55)
INT: C. Poulter (54), E. MacPherson (67), J. Patullo (71), D. Orgill (50), C. Smith (73)

As last night showed we need a third tall defender who is good on the ground. Surely Khamis could be tried in that position, not the ruck.

I can pick five I would be happy to delist.

What is a plethora? Would you say there is a plethora of statistics in AFL? The ladder gives us a measure on how teams are doing, wins and loses give a measure on how players and coaches are doing. Are these the same measures you use to assess how recruiters are doing?I don’t know the answers to these, I am sure you will agree, very insightful questions but I am wondering if there is a “widely” acknowledged measure of recruiters. I am wondering how ours are going compared to other teams. Is it all too subjective and as simple as you win the flag you have the best recruiters?

I'm so jealous of all of these teams with these young gun next gen mids like Horne-Francis, Humphrey, Wardlaw, Sheezel etc.

Bont and Libba desperately need some blokes coming through who could take some of the load. They'll be cooked by the end of the season at this rate. We used to have a plethora of inside talent but we just neglected to recruit more for so long and we're paying for it now.

Agree but it doesn’t take much, most of those guys drafted last year. Id definitely be looking to trade our two picks up to get one of the best mids in the draft this year (and definitely get in before Croft)

Yes, we desperately need some young midfielders with pace who can use the ball. I think one of the key reasons we do not hit targets from our midfield is Bont, Libba and McCrae as good as they do not have genuine speed that allows them to kick under less pressure. I was jealous of Rozee and Butters hitting targets going forward when we struggled. Our quickest midfielder Bailey Smith is not a great user or decision maker.

We haven't bothered to recruit any because Bevo has been trying to get hopeless players to the club to fix his stuff up in defence.

We had no opportunity to do so in the last few years drafts thanks to bids at Pick 1 and Pick 2, and our desperate need for young tall defenders last year resulting in us grabbing Busslinger. Since Bailey Smith, the only other year we had a shot was in 2019 (took Weightman, then next pick in the 50s).

We were pretty heavily rumoured to be targeting Hollands and Philippou with our first last year, but they were both taken before it got to us.

Unless you meant trading - we’ve largely targeted KPPs in the trade period given they take longer to develop and we’ve been in a flag window. I’m not really sure there’s any young midfielders that have moved clubs that we could realistically have had a shot at otherwise.

Decent mids are a dime a dozen friend

Was also Reported that the club were trying to trade up in last year’s draft with Essendon and select Elijah Tsatas
