Cordy was very rarely best 22.
How do you suppose that? I wasn’t much of a fan but he was always picked when fit for his last 6 or so years here, played about 110 games.

Cordy was very rarely best 22.
Stringer staying would have likely meant Tom Boyd might have retired much earlier and probably a few others leaving. He was toxic to the club. Hunter needed to move on for his own sake and Cordy by 2022 was in and out of the side so was borderline 22.We can’t keep moving on best 22 players. Hunter, Stringer, Cordy. We need to work through the issues, we lose them but getting no replacements.
That's 3 players over 5 years. We can’t keep moving on best 22 players. Hunter, Stringer, Cordy. We need to work through the issues, we lose them but getting no replacements.
He had a two year contract in front of him. He clearly saw the writing on the wall and jumped at the security and whatever the Saints promised of a 3 year deal. I dont blame him. He was surplus to requirements.IIRC Cordy chose to leave when Jones returned to the side and Bruce planned to train as a defender.

Bevo’s press conference this week should be interesting.

Hawks also good at thisI reckon that player managers would be well aware of our use of Footscray.
I presume that other clubs do much the same. Geelong certainly seem to get good value form their VFL squad.
It seems pretty clear that Poulter and his management correctly identified a weekness in our list and targeted our club. Its also a pretty clever strategy for a guy who'd quickly found himself on the scrapheap only to resurrect his chance of continuing his career pretty quickly.
I do understand your point but a trade just can’t be the answer. If we aren’t competent enough as a club to extract something close to the best out of a player with Baz’s ability and work ethic then something is deeply wrong. If the answer is trade him because we aren’t up to it we may as well just pack it in right nowYes I’m all in for trying to make it work.
I prefaced all my remarks about being brave etc etc & trading him with “IF WE CANT GET THE BEST OUT OF HIM” or words to that effect.
I’ve put it here in caps because nobody reads the conditional clause unless you do. (And if that doesn’t work maybe I’ll try 24 point bold font.)
We would all be happy with the Baz of September 2021 and early 2022, but where has that gone? He’s 23 soon, the age when most elite midfielders are really starting to dominate. Instead he has plateaued or even gone backwards for much of this year and last year.
Is he
(A) “just in a form slump”
(B) being handled poorly and played in the wrong position
(C) suffering some other ailment or mental demons that are preventing him playing his best football?
(D) something else … eg, maybe not as good as we thought?
Whichever it is, how much confidence have we got that Baz, Bevo, the coaching assistants, the physios, the psychologists and the myotherapists can help propel him to being the elite midfielder he was promising to be in his first couple of seasons?
What exactly is the plan? Surely they are at least working on it.
We have a very good record at Footscray - along with the names mentioned last week, Jermaine Jones was playing decent footy for West Coast this year (he signed with Footscray before getting a lifeline).I reckon that player managers would be well aware of our use of Footscray.

Spot on.It’s gross how the media tries to pressure players out of small market clubs so they can go to Essendon or Carlton or wherever. AFL media has this nasty tendency to try and create headlines rather than report on them.

Would be a fantastic line coach if he was open to itNot list management or anything but would Dew be an option as a coach? While at Sydney they didn't fall lower than 6th and made 2 GFs. Can't do any worse than our current fwd line options.

Look at that panel. You couldn’t choose a bigger set of arsehats. Lloyd hates the dogs and targets our players as future dons every second year. Believes we are a feeder club for Tulla. Caroline needs to retire and that port pelican is a walking clickbot for Hutchy…. Burn this show with fire
Bont Libba Treloar have all been significantly better than him this year if he wants to play in his "position" he needs to improve enough defensively and with his ball use to kick one of them outClub is doing a beautiful job of playing Smith out of position. Looking forward to his eventual departure (not).
He plays elite football when he gets put in the position where he's elite. The media is an absolute disgrace. Baz was playing some solid footy earlier in the year, has 3 down games and now all the sudden needs a fresh start at a new club? Piss off.
Where is his elite position? He played the best footy of his career exactly where he is playing now.He plays elite football when he gets put in the position where he's elite.
He's not there. That's on the coach to put his list in a place to succeed.
