Lobb leaving suggests we also might’ve finally worked out we went far to tall most weeks and might finally get the game style and ball movement most here want
Why do people think we went too tall? It's the same structure the Pies went with in the forward half. The issue is we have no serious intercepting threats in the back half or skill/speed on the wings and half forward.

Lobb isn't perfect but he wasn't the reason why we looked like shit most weeks.

Unless he grows 6 inches in height I really don't like the plan
Naughton can become the back up ruckman very easily,

Brisbane do it with Daniher
Port do it with Dixon
Melbourne do it with JVR
St Kilda do it with Owens

Why would we not throw in the athletic hall who can go missing in games to get him around the ball more?

Because we did we kept 3 talls in the forward line most of the time the pies rotated their ruck through the bench far more than forward hence they could maintain the pressure they did around the ground

How would we trade back in? There's no bidding for NGA players in the top 40 so if any club wanted him before that pick wouldn't it just be a straight selection?
I mentioned this in the nga and draft boards

It's kinda a unspoken rule of clubs giving others a heads up if the nga player isn't a lock in top 15 player

Since other clubs want to draft players they invested years in

You don't use to Ferrari to plow a field.

Naughton had to be managed through this year due to his knee. I don't want him rucking at all. Darcy can do the job in a couple of years but needs time.

I'm worried about this

Who’s had more issues with getting on the field due to their body Joe Daniher or Aaron Naughton?

I've just had a quick look at the TOG % comparing English, Lobb, Naughton & JUH against Cox, Cameron, McStay & Mihocek across the season. The difference is negligible and we probably had an extra tall on the ground for 10 minutes over the entire course of the game.

Again, it's the least of our issues.

LOL Naughton can play as a back up
Ruckman that will sit well with him.

If it’s the least of our issues why was our team one of the worst at defending transition ball movement?

Because our midfielders and forwards are slow in general. It's been a big issue for years.

I've mentioned a lot of our issues stem from playing slow or poor pressure players through our wings, half forwards and midfielders.

Been told this morning over a coffee that if Smith requests a trade the Dogs will entertain offers.

And Smiley Boy is not far off the money, although my contact reckons it’s player driven and not coach driven. He doesn’t get along with our group.

Stop trying to butter us up to the idea of Smith going.

I ******* hate it.

Nar jokes 😂😂❤️

And they’re slow because they’re covering extra players as we went too tall and immobile

Daniher is also 202cm.

Naughton 195. I get worried with Naughton. I feel every game I watch he ends up sore and in the hands of trainers.
Naughts is 196cm JVR is 193cm and younger yet Melbourne have no issues throwing him in there for the 5 minutes a quarter Gawn has off

So say Hawthorn decide they want him at their pick 30 if he's still available, they'll give us a courtesy call to advise we'd better get him before that pick or else he's theirs?

I am far from confident of keeping all of Smith, JUH, Asto and Tim next season. Seems that a lot of our promising players get over hyped. Tim had an AA year an deserved the hype although generally ruckman do not command the $$ of mids and key position players. JUH shows a lot of promise but is potential A grader but not an A grader yet. Astro for what he has done as a forward is over hyped. Smith is coming off a poor season. Hope all have a great 2024 to match the hype we win the flag and all stay.

A bit jealous of the pies they win the flag and have N & J Diacos, De Goey and Moore locked away.

Currently working on Oliver on a nice little farm and some Cotton On deal. Maybe a pub somewhere.
Piggy to the farm. That seems to make sense.

Is he back tracking now or being a mouthpiece for the club?

I interrupt that as:

"We want to paint a picture that everything is fine. Make it appear as though we want to keep him."

Melbourne will be hoping other clubs pay a large price to trade a potentially toxic player.

Deep down I reckon the Dees are super concerned and they feel the consequences of keeping Oliver outweigh the positives. They'll be trying everything they can to up his trade value, and a way to potentially achieve that is to convince opposition clubs that their preference is to keep him.
