Where have I said use Buku I said Naughton who took 80 odd ruck contests this year or Darcy
Unless you're Bevo's new assistant coach, it's highly unlikely Naughton plays in the ruck. No inside knowledge, just going off the last few years.
Darcy is still an unknown as to where Bevo see's his best position.

How is he unknown? He played exclusively all year forward and ruck when we were crying out for KPD

If Lobb is going and we don’t bring in a decent backup, we are completely ****ed if English gets injured.

(Based upon Sweet going as he has indicated)
Would like to see us pick up a state league journeyman as a “break glass in case of emergency” type rather than spend any serious picks or cash. Long term, I think Croft and/or Darcy potentially develop into that forward/ruck role so should be fine soon, but we do need depth for 2024/2025

Lobb averaged 1 CBA a quarter do you really think 1 CBA a quarter will be the difference between the guy some are dubbing our future captain here leaving or not?
Lobb didn't just have those four ruck contests a game though.
Although he may have only averaged 4 CBAs a game, he participated in 42 Ruck contests in round 24.
If we asked naughton to do that then yes I'd expect him to request a trade.

Why risk Naughton getting injured in a ruck contest? Imagine Nankervis or some other bulldozer running through him in a front on contest and then he misses 8 weeks. That is what I mean by zero footballing sense.

He is not the type of player I think we need to risk. I just don't get why anyone thinks risking him is a good idea that would help the club

Yes the last round was the big outlier though before that he was only averaging around 19 a game Naughts is already at 4 a game now 15 isn't a huge difference when you consider English is still taking almost 80 a game still

I think he becomes a ruck/Forward with time. I'm hoping he can play 10 games as a forward/Ruck in 2024 and up that again in 2025 before playing permanently in 2026.
Same. I don't think the kid will be ready to go next year every week, we need to give him time to develop

Why do Melbourne risk JVR? Why do Port risk Dixon? Why do Brisbane risk Daniher? are we all just going to start pretending teams don't use their better KPF as a ruck chop out occasionally?

So we have interest in Darcy Gardiner?

Wonder how he's feels about slotting in behind Doedee now?

I don’t think they quite play the same position.

Maybe as he has gotten older, he has lost some agility but they don’t like using the three KPDs. He’s just been stuck behind Andrews and Payne of late.

Think Doedee takes over Lester’s spot once he gets back to 100%.

Are you seriously comparing Naughton to Dixon who can barely move, or JVR who has played less than 30 games and is not a match winner in the same way Naughts has been for us??? If you are happy with using a KP as a ruck, then Jamara best get ready to do some rucking as well. Maybe we could throw O'Donnell in there as well. Both are tall, athletic and can jump which was what you referenced before.

Again, why would you risk Naughton??? Do you not like him or happy for him to get injured?

I'd hope it becomes more regular next year though, we have been at our best when English split time ruck forward.

So Dixon who can barely move can manage to ruck with out issues but Naughton will? JVR who is younger smaller and almost now more important to his team can manage to ruck without issues but now? Naughton already takes a couple of forward RC hence adding a few more isn't that big of an issue.

If you are worried about him getting injured are you telling him to stop flying for marks how he does?

Naughtons only 2cms taller then Bont maybe bont could be our next Ruck?

Rory Lobb averaged 20.9 ruck contests per game. JVR 11.

I think you may have to accept you're on your own with this opinion.

I am accepting it,

Just yet to see a decent rebuttal for why he can't

Keep in mind JVR end of year was significantly more once they stopped playing Grundy

Hard to say if Melbourne are doing the right thing with Oliver.
Only floating a name l suppose.
I do like the pro active mind set though.
They see what they want. They look at options. Are we being pro active ? or are just confident Naughton and English are re signing.?
