Might be time for you to get your eyes checked then - Lobb is a pinch-hitter at best and Darcy is still very raw and so far, extremely injury-prone.
We'll see. I reckon Lobb will get more Ruck time in 2024. And Darcy with a uninterrupted pre-season will be in our starting 18.

Having multiple options for the ruck will only benefit us. English will still take 75% of CBA's, but being able to throw Lobb & Darcy at CBA's and Naughton at forward 50 boundary throw ins will only make us more unpredictable.

I simply don't think we can play English, Lobb, Darcy, Naughton & JUH in the one side so I have no idea what the club will do over the next couple of years. We won't be moving Naughton behind the ball or Lobb to the wing, that's for sure.

That isn’t band 1 level. Needs to be over $825k for band 1. That number ($825) is based on comparable band 1 compensation and annual player salary growth.

The salary swans are offering is maybe band 2, just not band 1.

Ah but it's band 1 after a little AFL House magic.

NSW Money vs Vic Money is very different

Here you go lads, great public forum to ask Baz if his leaving or not.

(Not that I'm advocating for anyone to go and actually do this, seems to be a weird thing to do, 1:1 fan engagement of a club you want to leave, specially the day after your exit interview)

I don’t think he will be doing this if he is intending to leave.

Stringer is not a good footballer, getting rid of him made sense, never gotten close to sniffing his 2015 form at the Bombers.
Whenever this discussion inevitably turns to Stringer it gets forgotten that he is also a guy who got carried into the 2016 finals series on reputation and promise rather than form.

He is today what he was back then. A player capable of the burts of powerful brilliance as he was going missing for entire games.

If we lived in an alternate universe and he'd stayed we'd be having endless discussions about why he is one of the games great unfulfilled talents. Something that will ultimately be his football epitaph.

Hunter is a weird one. Dees welcomed him with open arms and said you play this role (wing) and that’s it. Not shocking he has bounced back. Was a victim of being Bevo’d and thrown around the place everywhere all the while having to deal with his off field stuff costing him on field.
Its easy to wipe the slate clean when all of the bridges burnt are in his rear vision mirror and they aren't Melbournes problem.

Clubs (including ours) will and do forgive a hell of a lot when it comes to good players and their off field indiscretions, until they dont.

Make no mistake, Melbourne would have Hunter on a pretty tight leash. The moment he publicly steps out of line they'll yank it back and punt him in less time than it takes me to change my mind about the current state of our club.

Melbourne and Essendon are also two of the more…morally relaxed clubs in the comp.

All in all I’m not sure if it goes the other way and our ‘no dickhead policy’ goes too far comparatively or what, but yeah Stringer was never going to fulfill potential. That tiger cannot change his stripes.

The Hunter situation just annoys me because I would have preferred we send him anywhere else, even if we paid him out, we let Melbourne upgrade a weakness for free while we tried to cobble together castoffs on the wing. Though it’s likely if bought out he goes to Melbourne anyway. That also got a little weird when everyone got all defensive when Caro said we were going to sack/trade him, and we did in the end. Not to mention the 2022 round 1 shenanigans.

I do wonder what sort of issues we have where this appears to be a more common problem. Baz I don’t want to make conspiracies about, but there’s no way he was “sick”. He’s in all likelihood the next in line to be too difficult for us to handle.

Jack Macrae and Caleb Daniel are too slow to play the roles they won multiple all Australians and BnF’s in so have to be plonked on a half forward flank where they’ve never shown any sign of reaching their former best.

You probably best to ask the coach !
He seems to have come to the conclusion as well they needed to reinvent themselves.

Good post 👍

But I like “ a leopard never changes his spots” better 😅

Baz just needs a new coach like a fair few of the players.

For a player manager we rarely see Bevo get the best out of players these days.
It don’t sound like Bevo is moving on in an hurray and the boards not acting on it either.
