Melbourne has entered the race for Tim English

3 More clubs are chasing Bailey Smith

Marra and Naughton extension is tied to the new CBA dealings, 4+ years offered by Dogs
Just waiting on the cash side of things
Grundy ( 2nd player ) and English ( all Australian ruckman ) swap with minor changes of draft positions in bulldogs favour ? ( that is tongue in cheek ) Glad to hear Marra and Naughton news.

Grundy likely heading back to S.A

So would be first round picks trade for English

News flash:

After the last few weeks of going against my better judgement and getting sucked into the maelstrom of rumours on this board.

Im going back to my natural state of extreme side eye when it comes to ITK and trade rumours and filing them all in the bin.

Fool me once...

But everyone knows Satan is Toby Greene.

There seems to be a evil Sydney connection here with the Devil.

If you review various Renaissance paintings of Christ's crucifixion, you can clearly see both Papley and Greene among the Romans.
Well, Sydney's nickname is Sin City..

Yeah.

"The coach is being offered payouts and refusing them."

Right before every single person at the football club unequivocally says he has their full support and is staying next season 100%.

And they'd have the exact same problem with English that they have with Grundy.

A guy who wants to be in the ruck 80%+ of the time but isn't as good as the other number 1 ruck on the list. Gawn still has some steam left in him.

Everybody with half a brain sees Tim as a fwd/ruck over a ruck/fwd, everybody but Tim.

Tim is 100% a ruck/fwd the issue is the percentage should be closer to 70% Ruck time not the 84% he had this year

Chilli would be silly to go to Melbourne. Can't see him leaving now he's got our #1 ruck role on lock for 8 years and just made AA. Clubs can chase smith his manager has said he's at the kennel so unless pick 1 to 3 was on the table it's no deal

I humbly disagree, I think his terrible in the ruck, sick of seeing him bullied around by first-year players.
He is not worth 1 million dollars.

He was just named AA ruck for a reason,

His lapses come because he tires himself out too much playing such a high TOG and time in ruck.

Is he worth 1 million dollars no I would rather spend 300k on Sweet and play him as I don't rate the position but to suggest he is a terrible ruck is just silly

English is worth more to us than just about any other side in the comp. Be really silly to offload him.
Not really,

He isn't Gawn and never will be so overpaying to keep him is silly,

He plays a position where most if not all of the last 20 premiers have just a solid plodder on low coin because it just isn't a high value position.

Might not be Gawn but his marking and around the ground work is elite. Sweet would be a good replacement at centre bounces and nowhere else.

I'm not an ITK poster and they can fight their own battles, but fwiw in July my organisation was ready to scrap a vendor relationship I'm involved with and I'd have priced it at about $1.10 that the contract would have been severed within a couple of months. As an ITK then I would have been pretty confident of that materialising. Fast forward to today, following a review where there might not be anything better out there and we'd be spending more money on other costs to implement something new etc etc, and now we're probably full steam ahead with the relationship again and implementing one of their new products in the coming months.

It's apples and oranges, I know, but it wouldn't be the first time that things shift considerably in a matter of days/weeks in footy or in the outside world. Best guess imo is that Bevo would be out if the extension hadn't been given, but the payout is just too big when coupled with paying a new coach whatever they require plus presumably some higher paid assistants.

It doesn't make it right, and as others have said Grant/Bains/the board should be on the hook for the terrible decision to extend him for two years when it was completely unnecessary and ill-advised. But the ITK posters might have been right about what was transpiring, it has just turned significantly.

All that said, Bevo shouldn't be coaching the club next year imo regardless of financial impact. But those things are dealt with on (many) other threads.

Good post, sounds pretty on the mark.

It also feels like, in hindsight, that the info was probably true in the fact that the club did offer Bevo a payout but it was less hostile than the assumption that we all jumped on here. Ie here’s a payout if you don’t feel like you want to coach going forward but if you do we support you, kinda thing.

There is the dilemma

Do we pay English the bigger money to keep him with his current output? I think he would demand at least $750K plus

Do we pay another ruck $300k that will do x % of Timmy and use balance to address another need e.g. a speedy midfielder for 500K say. Is that a better option for the team overall?

Over to the List Managers to unpack it all.

I'd honestly rather Sweet + top 5 midfielder than English and pick 11-17 midfielder.

But that's me.
