Is Brandon Parfitt a spud?

I can't believe Melbourne aren't scrambling to burn and phoenix the entire coaching staff in order to try and keep some players by letting them know they'll bring in someone that would suit them.

It's vaguely similar to us and McCartney, who we managed to keep some players around because we simply moved on McCartney when it became obvious (we kept players like Boyd, Roughead, Stringer, Wallis who were all pissed off and wanted to leave then). We lost Jones etc. then but at least we kept the damage down by telling these players we'd act quickly.

Each day matters for the Dees.

Pickett, Oliver and Trac all gone if right deal is done
I’m not a massive fan of the way he goes about it but Pickett is exactly what we need.

Edit: actually I take that back. All good small forwards like Green, Watson, Cameron etc are cocky little s*its. I’m sure other teams think the same about Cody. Pickett would add so much to our team.

Does Port not have a salary cap now either
They'll lose Houston, who is on good money, but it's a bit weird yeah.

They've done well to move on players who aren't that good but others think they are. Duursma etc

It would be absolutely hilarious if the Melbourne fire sale led to a domino effect that somehow resulted in us retaining Bailey Smith (which can't be ruled out).

This is why you are firm but professional and polite to players like Smith. We'll continue to offer the same two-year deal that takes him through free agency with a respectful, professional understanding that he might want to go elsewhere as a free agent. Other clubs that have offered him big deals may blow that up and change those terms and piss him off to chase Petracca or fit Oliver in their salary cap or go after any of these players.

I think homesickness is one of the reasons stated in his exit interview, so that's where he'll be looking.
It's funny how his homesickness didn't occur in any of the previous off-seasons but is happening now when there's much publicised issues and multiple other good players wanting out.
