So is that three spots cleared off the main list, one rookie spot and a Cat B spot?

Anyone able to update on how many list spots we have open at the moment?

With TOB, Bruce & Raak gone, probably Croft in that leaves us with the following talls for next year.

AFL:
Naughty, Marra, Lobb
Jones, JOD, Keath

VFL:
Darcy, Croft, Buku?
Gardner, Buss

Actually looking pretty light on there, makes me think Buku might be staying considering we cut TOB & especially Raak. Either way you would think we need to be targeting at least one more tall through the draft/trade period, maybe the Footscray lad?

O’Brien gone means key back stocks even thinner now.
I don't think we'd be any worse off next year by picking up one of the VFL overperformers in his position (El Nour, Hore). There's also Van De Heuvel who used to play for our VFL side who everyone used to gush over, who has actually improved into an okay player at Geelong now (having been extremely hot and cold for us). O'Brien has never produced anything for us at AFL level, better off replacing him with someone who hasn't had the same opportunities to see if they can do anything

O’Brien going off the back of Bruce retiring tells me we probably are getting someone like Tomlinson.

Raak getting cut at just 20 is a shame but he seems a pretty fringe AFL prospect. Rather keep the list ticking over.
Yeah good point, was trying to think who we’d be targeting on the cheap. Tomlinson seems like a certainty you’d think, as long as it’s a token late pick I guess he’s an improvement on Bruce & O’Brien. Don’t really rate him but can maybe tie us over until Buss is ready for some game time.

I could be wrong here but I believe we now have 32 on the playing list + 4 on rookie list (2 behind Cat B)

Footscray has talls?

Updated out of contract players now:

Benendo
Crozier
McLean
Buku
Duryea
Sweet
McNeil
R. Smith

You’d think another 3-4 of them move on? Or am I over analysing

Come on down Adam Tomlinson.

Raak is still young enough to go play at another VFL club for a few years and improve and he may get Re-Drafted

I can’t see any way Crozier stays on. Shame because I’d have stuck with him, even through his bad form, knowing at his best he is a very good player.

Always find this part of the season weird. I like to see changes but it feels a little wrong being happy about people losing their jobs.

No fault to them but I’m happy we didn’t give new contracts to O’Brien and McComb. Was more than enough evidence that they weren’t going to offer enough going forward.

Does it make it any easier knowing most of them were easily in the top 10% of earners in the country last year? And a good portion are privately educated rich kids.
