Bowes, Bruhn, Henry

What they tried to do to Port for Ratugolea of all players
I don't think Bowes was Geelong 'screwing' Gold Coast over.

They needed to get rid of him due to cap mismanagement and Geelong had been in talks with him for years as a trade target (Gary Ablett Jnr said they should look at him). He chose Geelong because they saw him as a player, not just as a guy bringing Pick 7.

What they did to Port was get a few worthless picks that they turned into Lawson Humphries at the end of the draft.

Player movement and trade between Geelong and the Dogs has been pretty reasonable. Dogs got second round compo for a shot Dahlhaus, which allowed them to secure Rhylee West. Hamling went to the Dogs as a delisted free agent, who the Dogs turned into Lipinski. Stewart Crameri came the other way and...well he was alright.

It hasn't exactly been Dodoro levels of trade pain.

As for Smith I think Geelong will get it done and fairly. Possibly this year's first and next year's with a few late pick swaps, maybe a combo of first and second, maybe someone like Knevitt is included....provided Smith nominates Geelong at all.

Macrae needs to go somewhere where he’s essentially the #1 or #2 inside mid.

I'm a big fan of McRae's work. I wouldn't be unhappy if Geelong traded for him. I understand (and could be wrong) that he's on a fairly hefty contract. Geelong should be able to handle that, which would free up cap space for rising Dogs talent.

It's going to be an interesting trade period one way or another.

Why would we want Knevitt?

Just went back and looked at the Dunkley trade essentially we traded Dunkley for Clarke/Pick 17 ended up as 23 (F1) in Sanders trade and Aiden O'Driscoll(F4) (F2 was used to match Croft bid)

Obviously hindesight is 20/20 but for Christ sakes lets not make the same mistake if they aren't prepared to pay top dollar then send him to the PSD,

We aren't being unreasonable and it's we aren't inflicting any great deal of harm to ourselves as the picks we are potentially forgoing are genuinely more questionable selections any way

It essentially ended up being, before matched bids and compo, 17, 21 & a mid 30s picks for Dunkley and a swap of later picks.

The Board signed off on sending Dunkley to the PSD and they’ll probably do the same here.

I'd look at trying to get Owies & Switkowski (someone said he's on the way out) to change the look of our small forwards fast & move beyond McNeil & VDM in one off season (or if you can only get one take the best from the state leagues ala Mannagh this year).

They may not be the long term answer but they are better than these 2.

Move West to a full time mid to shake up the mix in there.

Move Freijah to a wing & leave him & Williams there all year to get settled.

Trade Smith, Caleb & Macrae & pump the picks into Mids with pace + a small defender for the post Doc era.

Get a new coach & start a refresh now. Don't wait another 12 months.
Owies is an absolute spud. Offers nothing is slow and will be lucky to be on a list next year

The F1 at the time of the Dunkley trade was worth more than the pick 17 it eventually became, because we had to factor in the possibilities (though unlikely) that Brisbane would shit the bed in 2023 and not make the finals or whatever and we get a top 10 pick.

It became pick 17 but at the time of the trade was probably worth something like in the early-mid teens?

Biting your nose off to spite your face is unprofessional and down right stupid.

And we walk all over club's at times.

We walked over The Saints getting Bruce.
We walked all over Adelaide getting Keath (even though half our supporters still can't spell his name).
We took a total dump on Collingwood getting Treloar.

As if we don’t work hard to get the best possible deal.Yeah - let’s get a big footy super negotiator in….

From last night: Harmes and McNeil
Others eligible: Gardner, Garcia, Cleary, L.Smith, Croft, Baker, Bedendo, Clarke, Poulter, Busslinger, A.Jones, Scott and Keath

Khamis, Daniel, Freijah, Lobb and Sanders played the minimum number of VFL games but too many AFL games to qualify

I think the too many AFL games requirement is stupid.

Wtf are we going to do with English.

5 year deal and we already know he can’t stand up when it matters.

Not sure we can do too much now. With Darcy probably going to be the best in the comp at the role we can’t really send him back to the second ruck/forward role that he played in 2021.

Just got to hope he puts his big boy pants on more often going forward. I’m not sure if its had anything to do with his concussion issues in the past but this year we saw uncompetitive Timmy a lot more than in previous seasons. We’ve put all our eggs in one basket, it’s likely years before Smith is an AFL option, just got to hope it pays off. 8 years and 131 games in, probably suggests he is what he is.

Was on and off for most of the year but thought he brought the aggression and physicality a bit after the Port game. Looked like he’d turned the corner but the game against Adelaide and then the final were potentially the worst he has ever been

If I was over 2 meters and 100+ kegs I would run through people, not around them.
Timid Timmy is not cut out to be a 1st choice ruck, he just doesn't have enough mungrel, but he is still a good footy player.

Maybe a change of position, he's a good mark and has a great tank to cover some ground....KPD??
Let Darcy and Lobb share ruck duties.

Be better than that .Wrong to wish that on anyone. Some comments on here are so pathetic. We are better than that. Come on Dogs supporters
Yeah I hope he doesn’t play well and a Geelong commence an Essendon-like two decade descent into mediocrity starting next year, but certainly we shouldn’t wish him harm.

Most of us didn’t rate him that highly anymore and he was becoming an off field distraction so if we get well into the first round just move on.
