One thing about Judas Bailey Smith leaving is if you are replacing a high rated player you normally have a weaken list from the current season. Given he did not play whatever we get as trade improves the player talent from 2024.

It improves the list relative to what he offered in 2024, but almost certainly weakens the list in 2025 relative to if he had stayed. It's a net negative, at least in the short term.

I was as critcical of JOD’s game as anyone, but if we’re moving on from players based solely off the Hawks final, there’ll be 5 players left on our list from that 23.

Look deeper than that one game, JOD is developing very, very well for a key back under the circumstances and he had interruptions this year.

JOD had an absolute mare last Friday, but he’s a good kid and that game will probably be the making of him.

I reckon a conversation around Bont's captaincy isn't the worst idea

He's obviously a brilliant captain, but he's held the role for 5 years including the gruelling COVID years

Takes so much on his shoulders. Cutting him some slack and giving a younger guy like Naughts a crack wouldn't be the worst idea, for Bont's longevity if nothing else.

Always sad when a club legend like Jack is to move clubs. I always thought he was criminally underrated (despite the AA’s). This maybe sacrilege, but there was one season I thought he deserved the BnF over Bont.
